As Spurs fans we've come to realise that whether looking for contact or not, contact is contact. Rooney being the most memorable culprit.

There's a difference between looking for a foul and diving. Bentley looked for the foul and the defender obliged so it's a penalty. If the defender hadn't Bentley keeps running. If a player dives he's going down regardless.

If a defender makes a tackle and the attacker chooses to not avoid it then fair enough. If the attack intentionally changes his run so that he makes contact with the defender then it's no different from diving.

Salgado pulled out of the tackle but Modric stepped into him to make the contact. It wasn't as bad as Pav's but it was a dive none the less.

If Bentley waited for the contact before going to ground I'd agree it's a penalty. He didn't though, he was already on his backside before Zenden touched him.

Modric was moving straight ahead, and Salgado's leg was outstretched. :confused:
 
I wonder what Man Utd will make of Hernandez's challenge today, it was identical to Cesc's, hopefully we'll see it from 5 angles and have Hansen castigating him.
