English League Football ** spoilers ** [2nd - 3rd October 2010]

Personally I think Liverpool fans are whinging about nothing and want a knee jerk reaction to a poor start to the season.

How many times? its not about points scored. Everton are 'down there' but performance wise they have been 200% better then pool.

Its about being sick of watching a team play like a bunch of paraplegic hippo's.

Our defending just got ripped to pieces on MOTD2 and rightly so. Four of those five defenders played in a defence that conceded the third fewest goals in the Premiership last season yet under Roy they look a complete mess. They're not defending as a unit and they've got no protection in front of them so if Roy isn't to blame who is?

Besides them being caught like rabbits in the headlights you have to look at your midfield for not giving them protection.

No we haven't performance wise we have been just as dire and got lucky against Birmingham as well. Our defending is as all over the place as your side. Last season was the same we started with no confidence.

You need to stop thinking your this massive club that can get rid of a manager and lure another top class one. That won't happen again until all the stuff off the field is sorted. How I laughed to read Liverpool fans chanting for 'king kenny' to take the helm again.

Your lot are as deluded as Newcastle fans as 'king kevin'. Have you forgot about just how **** dagleish was/is?

Probs get shot down for saying this but I don't see the difference between Chelsea and Arsenal being huge, Arsenal could have scored 2 in the first minute. I think ruthlessness and clinical finishing was the thing that seperated the sides yesterday. Chelsea did defend well but Arsenal had more than enough clear opportunities to score. If Fabregas and V. Persie were fit things may have been different, but Arsenal aren't allowed their good players in the big games so that's wishful thinking

Thought mostly Arsenal looked composed and in control and Chelsea weren't really that effective on the counter, which is down to good work by Arsenal (and a few cynical fouls ;p). All in, encouraging performance even though it was a loss and all things considered (entirely new CB partnership, goalkeeper out of confidence, missing half a team - including all the best players). For some reason the team felt more mature yesterday.

Thought Wilshere did well against Mikel and Essien too. Did not look like your typical 18 year old Englisher, very assured from him. He has a very high ceiling if he can cope with a Chelsea midfield at 18

There's not that much between them, but Chelsea's squad is that bit better in almost every position.

You guys think Liverpool are doing bad, just look at Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.

Now thats shocking. 8 points from 7 games.

Schalke's position is even more extraordinary, with their squad and added quality this year (Huntelarr has popped up with a few goals but its not helping!), probably entirely down to the immense Westermann leaving :o

For what its worth. Torres has left the country, alone. No bandaging, moving freely.
Heard from my people that he had no problems today, and has now gone to join up with the Spanish NT. Which is a massive *finger* to Roy, he requests all players to eat together in evenings after games to 'bond' and all that.

Thats funny, unless we out-source our medical team because i have eye-witness that he was out of the stadium well before half-time. This i know for a fact.
Leaving the country? this i hear, but dont have proof of outside of my usual contact, who to be fair isnt often wrong.

Fernando Torres injury update
Oct 4 2010 by James Pearce, Liverpool Echo

FERNANDO TORRES will have a scan this afternoon to determine the extent of his groin injury. The Liverpool striker was at Melwood on Monday morning to have the problem assessed and the initial diagnosis is that it is a strain rather than a tear. After the scan has taken place a decision will be made about whether Torres links up with the Spain squad for their Euro 2012 qualifier against Lithuania on Friday night. Torres limped off after just 10 minutes of yesterday's 2-1 defeat against Blackpool at Anfield. Boss Roy Hodgson said: “He has a groin strain, but I don't know how severe it is. “It happened early in the game which came as a surprise to us.”

I know what the echo said, but he was out of the stadium before half time as i said.
So Roy lied when he said our medical team were looking at him after the game.
Unless he had to go to the hospital for a scan, in which case why doesn't roy just say "hes gone for a scan" ?

So which is it?

1) Fernando Torres left Anfield and immediately boarded a plan to Spain, completely uninjured.
2) Fernando Torres was injured during the game, but still left the country.
3) Fernando Torres didn't leave the country, but was injured, and did leave at half-time.
4) Fernando Torres sustained an injury during the game, was assessed afterwards by club physios, and will have a scan on it this morning.
5) Fernando Torres actually died in early March, and since then has been replaced by his younger brother Miguel, in a desperate attempt by Liverpool's owners not to upset fans further.
6) None of the above.

?

I would say that #4 is the most likely, but with some comments on here, you never know! Maybe you should have added a #7 Got a cab to Man city . #8 Got on a plane at half time, whilst dancing to prove no injury, and he was also wearing a Barcalona shirt.

I thought midfield we looked good. Equal at least with Chelsea's and even occasionally shading it. However, it was our lack of cutting edge up front, and the fact that Drogba just once again bossed our CBs.

As you said though, it was quite encouraging. It showed that even under-strength, we could hold our own for most of the game, against the champions.

Few rumours going around that Lucas has had enough and wants out and I wouldn't blame him one bit because he's been treated like ****. Wouldn't be surprised if he, along with Agger, Torres and Jovanovic, asked for transfers in January

I'm just glad our next game is against Everton, it could be the ideal game to get things back on track.

It would literally be down to sticking the ball in the net - and they managed it twice, whereas we didn't even look like taking our half chances. No resentment there, even Wenger said it - there's no point playing pretty football and being coy in front of goal because at the back of your mind you assume another chance will come. This is a poor mentality against big opponents away from home.

Chelsea's first resulted from a foul higher up the pitch. This exposed Nasri out of position (though to be fair it's not the first time he's looked knackered all match and failed to do the work, nor is it the first time he's been done by Cole), allowing the latter to cross. Then Drogba's improvisation hit the post and went in. Two bits of luck in fact. Yeah sure we fouled as well, but the point is they managed to score after theirs. That's what league winners/holders seem to do in tough games.

Their second was a tired foul, and then Alex smacked it right where a Chelsea player moved out of the way. That was a very very poor wall from us.

For all the talk about Drogba doing us again - I'd say Alex as well had massive hand in their win. For some reason no Arsenal side seems capable of him, either offensively or defensively. The **** was unmovable last night at the back and scored going forward. Reminded me of his performance wearing a PSV shirt from a few years ago?

Yeap hoped he'd be able to step and he did very well. It showed his game has all the right bits and bobs. I suppose it's easier to concentrate on little things like tactics and styles of play when you're not having to worry about getting seven shades of **** knocked out of you.

Still maintain that from previous games the fouls on him are getting worse and worse, they have to stop otherwise it's just another Ramsey waiting to happen.
