Both are 'tough tacklers' (well they don't always, but that's another matter), who have seriously fouled their opponents over the years and often put them out for extended periods of time. In that sense, yes, De Jong is like Ryan Shawcross. Every time incidents like this happen it's a big ****ing clue as to what they're like. Wasn't it recently against W. Ham where Shawcross, off the ball, deliberately elbowed somebody in the face?
I struggle to see how you don't get the comparison...
...though perhaps the real issue is you can't hack criticism of your 'hero' can you now?
