Exactly. It’s all marketing.I thought a significantly smaller cut meant cheaper games for everyone
Max I paid for a game was around £50 and that was for pre-ordering Deus Ex Mankind Divided Digital Deluxe Edition and even that was because I love the franchise and wanted to support it.The funny part about the above is the £99.99 edition also says "Limited time promotional pricing" so is not even the final price... But I don't think we can really go too hard on Epic over how expensive the game is as I think "deluxe" editions being £100+ somehow seems to have been normalised across most of the industry at this point

Oh yes they did, multiple times and it was one of their main arguments of why we should move.I don't believe Epic ever said that would be the case, just that it would be a better deal for devs.
After you go through several cycles of game developers making decisions, you’re going to see lower prices as developers pass on the savings to customers, realising they can sell more copies if they have a better price,” says Sweeney, speaking with Ars Technica during the Game Developers’ Conference last week. “This sort of economic competition is really healthy for the whole industry and will lead the industry to a better place for all developers and for gamers as well.”
