So Amorim wanted to stay at Sporting till the end of the season but Utd said now or never. Feel sorry for him tbh, can't help but feel it's the wrong decision for him, and I say that as a United fan.

Might as well start counting down the days till him getting sacked stories start after the poor performances continue as expected.

My fear is he will burn all his credit up in poor performances this season, he seems utterly set on playing 3-4-3 and I don’t see how Utd put out a strong enough side in that lineup with the current squad and can’t see them getting good enough options in January. If come the end of the season his win loss ratio looks like EtH and Utd are 8-10 the noise will start and once it does it never goes away.

Personally I wanted Tuchel. Divisive, but change needed to happen.

I would have hoped RvN would have made it to the internation break.

With regard Amorin. He will get time. As much as I wanted Tuchel we all know things won't change overnight.

Hopefully he will get the funds to do what he wants. EtH did and that man had no clue.

Despite all this, I guess we will see right!

The appointment didn't happen overnight btw. So let's see...

How long is ‘the time though’ will he be allowed half a season of under achievement and then it’s on or is he allowed to burn a couple of seasons? I just can’t see it myself! The fan base will tolerate some under performance this season but will expect better than EtH and then the club will sign some players in the summer and if they aren’t doing much better by Christmas the knives will be out and the inevitable decline will follow it is the way of modern football.

Do we even have the money to buy the players he wants? Hopefully there's a bit of a clear out at the end of the season but once again, that brings new risks with it.

Are we now going to go from a Dutch to a Portuguese squad? Will they be good enough for EPL?

The bar is now set very low, all he’s got to do is start working towards a cohesive playing style for the team. I don’t think anyone expects a major change overnight, although ETH was so bad that people seem to think the manager doesn’t make much difference: not true. Look at the change when Solskjaer took over. We’ve got people saying the team is no better than 14th…

If Aston Villa went to play Real Madrid tomorrow, look at their squads, but you’d give them a decent chance of getting something. That’s down to the manager and the coaching.

We don’t know what’ll happen but let’s look at the facts, we’ve just got rid of a seriously underperforming manager for a highly rated one who seems to have a completely different approach. It might just work…

I think our fans are extremely patient. Last season was utterly dire yet the majority wanted ETH to stay after the FA Cup final. I knew things wouldn’t change, he just seemed clueless to me - but even I was positive at the start of the season, for a couple of weeks anyway :p

According to transfermrkt the Villa squad cost £615m, United cost £854m and Arsenal (the target?) cost £1.17bn.

That's interesting.

You'd imagine we'd pay a United/idiot tax so we'd probably pay at least 20% more than Villa paid for their players.

Edit - actually that's market value not cost! Doh!

My biggest fear is that Amorims system seems to require a very high work rate and technical/tactical awareness. I think we will see quite quickly whether he is going to sink or swim. Fingers crossed it a fun ride regardless.

You'd hope the management would have it all planned out, given they're supposed to be the best in the business.

I mean that sincerely, there's a distinct style of play change, surely they've thought about it prior to hiring him. There must be a plan.
We can but hope! I’m actually looking forward to the few games under Ruud and then Amorim. It’ll be fascinating to watch. Then my usual dislike for Rashford will undoubtedly override everything again

For all we know, Berrada and Ashworth are building an entire strategy just to fit Amorim, but they've brought plans forward.

There are definitely plenty of reasons to be concerned around INEOS and everything that's going on, but equally there should be optimism. Omar Berrada knows the inner workings of Man City and everything they've built, and Dan Ashworth knows English football as well as anyone in his sort of role.

I think Amorim will need to adjust his tactics a bit until the squad has seen further changes, he effectively has 3 centre backs and one holding player ahead of them, everyone else goes on the attack. Should be entertaining but there will definitely be issues with counter attacks.

If he sets up like that with the current squad the results could be ‘interesting’ must be a few players calling agents already as they clearly don’t fit the guys system.
