Anyone know of an app that can let you set a custom action/shortcut/anything when you double tap the "desktop"? Zeam Launcher lets you do double taps, but Launcher Pro proved a much better look so I'm running with that... but really want to be able to double tap too. Any ideas?

Try going into Accounts and Sync and syncing. I managed to do this last year and I think this is how I fixed it.

Are there any text apps out there that let you send a free text to another persons phone who doesn't have the same app. Kind of like those websites where you can type a message to a mobile number and they receive it as a text. I'd like one so I don't have to use facebook on my Desire HD to message my gf who's overseas nor text her with my normal service and get charged for international texts....

We would use whatsapp but it refuses to work on her Blackberry
 
Found a cracking little file browser with root access, it's Super Manager - main thing I like about it is that it allows you to run .apk files from within super manager without actually having to install them... Nice feature I thought :)

If an SMS gets sent via the SMS system, that's done by your network and you're charged/deducted automatically, if it's something else it's going over either 3g, in which case you're still charged/deducted, or wifi in which case it could genuinely be free... so as you're looking for free bulk short messaging only when over wifi, what about an IM client? Are BBs clever enough to have IM clients?
 
whats wrong with using facebook or msn etc for it ? infact shes got a blackberry with push email so why not just email ? its as easy as texting
 
To quit out of Skype, go to the My info tab, hit the menu key and then choose Sign out.
than you can use back or home or whatever, it's not using battery or signal at that point.
 
I love it when people help others out and make it clear they took time to do their own research before asking questions but are still confused about where to get stuff from.

Oh wait.
 
Any decent apps to password protect other applications on the phone?. I basically want to protect the messages application.

I had a quick search on the market but nothing stood out!

hmmm its the same rule as you pc (or user account).. you should be the only one using your phone as its signed into your email and linked with your google payment. so a simple phone lock should be enough, i would not let my phone out my site..

and why you hiding msg's? ;) got two women on the go :D
