I have a MAME cabinet and I've been messing about with a few emulators on my Desire. Puzzle Bobble 2 works REALLY well on the Desire using Tiger Arcade (free):

Can you use Google Nav to put in a predefined route? Or are there any other apps out there that can do that - preferably if they can save stats (average speed, etc)?

Can anyone name and good SMS applications?

I've looked at Handcent but it's got that god awful conversation style with speach bubbles that look like they were photoshopped by a 2 year old on his first computer. Additionally it has ads too.

I like the default SMS app but would like a little more customisation in terms of theme, styling and notifications

you can use the normal theme in handcent afaik.

anyone know how to make it so if i click the message shortcut on homepage that it takes me to the top view of the message application? (currently handcent). i really hate it how when i want to send a new text it'll bring me back to what iwas doing which is usually the undelivered text screen, so i click back to go to the last person i text, then back again to get the screen. too many clicks

It is ad supported though. There is no paid for app as far as I can see to remove the ads. I'd rather not have anything that is ad supported on my phone.

I know i can download yet another app to block the ads but that is beside the point.

Short answer, no there isn't another. Long answer... maybe if you look hard enough but it won't be as polished as Handcent. Why would getting rid of all ad's on your phone be a bad thing? :p . In the time it's taken you to write these posts you could have it installed already.

But it's not like you see the ads during the day-to-day usage of it.

What's wrong with ad supported apps. At least you're supporting the developer.

Plus you only see the ads in the settings.

Media player
Currently use Coreplayer for music and videos, so would ideally like an all in one solution. If it can smoothly play 800x480 videos (encoded from 720p) it would be a huge plus.

Not an all-in-one but, A very good, smooth, Well laid out video player with a really great UI.

Vplayer

The comments are heavy with haters because the dev decided to go with a paid version (Why not ? He wrote the app!) after saying it will be free, Ignore them i've had zero issues with it whatsoever and i watch a video most days while commuting.

I E-Mailed the dev to pay by paypal, He sent me the unlocker for free :)

I'll put the question here -

How do I get Google Maps to send my 'Starred' destinations to Navigation on my phone?
I have got Gmail setup and if I add a new contact I immediately see it on my phone.

Any decent forum reader apps? Doing it on the browser can be a painful experience (keyboard hiding what I'm typing, random scrolling, tried different browsers). Would be good to have a message board widget on my home screen.
