My Google Maps says it's got a 7MB cache - how do I go about increasing that?

Select the option to prefetch when not on wifi and it should increase, mine is at 37MB.

It's probably because you are on the wrong market... Try the market switcher app to change to a different market and see if you can find it then.

Ah. I think the cache size literally tells you how much is being used, not what the limit is. My bad .

Can anyone name and good SMS applications?

I've looked at Handcent but it's got that god awful conversation style with speach bubbles that look like they were photoshopped by a 2 year old on his first computer. Additionally it has ads too.

I like the default SMS app but would like a little more customisation in terms of theme, styling and notifications

Not sure if you're still looking, but GO SMS is a rather nice messaging program. Not as good as Handscent though.

Yep, use a file manager like EStrongs or Astro

If you have "backed up" apks, then you can just put them on your SD card and use Astro or similar to install the package, as it would do like the market.
