Upto 5 devices on a standard account all for circa £2 for life.... The web interface is just perfect for what you need :)

If you cannot get your phone back but you know it is being used by the scum, I like the fact you can force the phone to call any number you want.... Premium bills anyone? :p

That is indeed a nice thing :D

You just send a message after saying "I will continue to rape your credits until my phone is returned!" or something :p

I've set mine to take a front facing pic for everything so with that in mind, if it gets stolen then I will not only be able to see the sim they put in it but also the wifi network they're on, ip addresses, track the movements, have pics of their faces or house etc, call logs, and with all that info combined it provides an excellent means of evidence for the police or hitman.

Been using Cerberus for a few months now, it's excellent. Make sure you get the Client Cerberus on another phone - makes it easier to quickly send the commands to another phone :) Got them both installed on my GS2 and my girlfriends Desire.

Just located my phone through the web panel and it worked perfectly - didn't see the GPS turn on though. So it either enabled GPS secretly or it located me over wifi?

edit - must have been over wifi, I've never installed the root version  :p

Mine located quite well using network connectivity (the circle covered mine and both neighbour's houses) but that is probably because I am in a populated area. I would prefer to get GPS working, but the steps in the help section I linked to are being difficult :(

The zip worked fine, didn't even need to uninstall either, just flashed via CWM Manager and it pinged the app into the system.

Just tried it, with GPS off it turns GPS on when you start tracking and when you send the stop command it turns GPS back off again so if scumbag phone thief nicks it then he'd be none the wiser that GPS suddenly enabled itself.

With Samsung Dive it enables itself and stays on.

The app says it can't be removed until someone flashes the ROM again... they can just use Root Explorer to delete it from /system/apps right?

They could delete the apk via root explorer or uninstall it via Titanium. This means the thief would have to be knowledgeable, which I doubt 99% of them will be :p

For total protection from that 1% though you'd need to be able to password protect superuser and those apps.

I was trying to do it by copying the apk, but will try the flashing method now :)

If you copy the APK you have to set the correct permissions as well. Flashing is the best way.

To be honest, if I were to steal a phone I would ensure that I covered up the camera and go into a basement where GPS wouldn't work. I would also wipe the phone or flash a new ROM as I wouldn't be stealing it for the contents but for the resale value.

However those who are smart enough to work out the above, wouldn't be stealing phones in the first place :p

Exactly. The only way to stop someone removing an app by flashing a new ROM is if the manufacturer placed the app within a non-writable/eraseable part of the phone which is separate from the area that is written to when flashing a ROM.... Can't see it happening TBH.

Even at that, you could probably get around that by changing the IMEI of the phone if possible

HI all,

I'm having problems mapping buttons on my PS3 controller to play games on my HP Touchpad using the SixAxis tool from the market. I wonder if anyone had any tips? Perhaps someone has some config files they used on the web somewhere?

Would appreciate if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Do you really think the average person knows how to do this?

Thanks for recommending Cerberus, great bit of kit worth the £2.50
