Accessing remotely over the net or over the LAN via WiFi?

You can use one of the many RDP apps on the Market to poll your PC over the net or LAN but for the net you'll be needing to set up a DynDNS account and enable it on your router then forward the RDP ports to your machines fixed LAN IP address only.

That way when the app asks to connect via RDP the machine's wake on lan function will kick in when the router sends the connection request.

Both ideally. Want it because (and yes, I know this is incredibly lazy) so that I can start up the computer on my way home from the street so that it's on when I actually get there :p

What about Remote Launcher? It says you can use WOL with it.

This looks pretty good. Seems to support both Wi-Fi and over 3g and has (some) instructions on how to set up. I'll give it a try once I get home. Thanks!

Have you used this btw? Work well for you?

I have used Remote Launcher, but never the WOL function - but that is due to limitations of my PC! I use it to remotely start programs (media servers etc.) on my PC and it works well.

Does anyone else have problems aligning widgetlocker Widgets with the exact same widget on their home screen?

I want mclock on widget locker and on my homescreen, but when I unlock there's a noticeable jump between their location :(

My mum is after something that will remind her she has a text. On her old phone she has a flashing light every few minutes. Is there an app that can alert her in intervals?

Boat Browser Mini is old news, get Boat Browser (non mini) :p

What is new news though is that Google Maps has a new update that adds some new stuff like continued navigation when you lose GPS, it uses the sensors based on your speed and the current map to continue until GPS returns.

I don't dare use any browser that doesn't say "mini" in the title - my phone only has 150mb RAM in total... I've got ~30mb free if I'm lucky, if that drops under 20 the whole phone is slow as hell!!

boat mini only uses around 8mb when in use (I only use one tab at a time)

Only a few more weeks before I can upgrade to the mythical SGS2 :D can't ****ing wait either!!

Ah that's why you use Mini :p I was the same on the Desire.

Get on the S2 boat quick, you'll be loving it :)

I'm up for upgrade in may - it can't come around fast enough!

I've got a galaxy portal at the mo, great starter phone, but now I'm more heavily 'into' Android etc, I want something that can do simple tasks in less than a week lol

Zombie Booth for example takes nearly three whole minutes to process an animation! Not good!

I'd just like to say thanks to everyone in this thread. You've spent nearly two years answering my question to an unseen level of depth and detail. You all deserve medals.
