Why oh why did I not know about this months ago!? :(

Edit/ The app tells me that I can add audible alerts when rain is approaching in the paid version. Can you add custom sounds? If yes they can have my £3 and I'm putting the "it gon rain" quote from family guy on straight away :D

Yup, you can add custom sounds for audible alerts. Good app though and worth 3 quid if your outdoors a lot. Works worldwide for a lot of countries though quite a few either don't have radar or it's not available.

No problem :)

Oh dear................ :o :p

After you have added the widget to the homescreen, you click on it to modify it and there is an option right there saying "theme", click on that and then another sub menu with more settings regarding the theme are brought up, choose your theme under "select theme":

BTW, just to let you know that is for all 3 of my homescreens, not just that one middle homescreen, which you quoted above:

Cheers Nexus! Last question, how to i go about installing those dock icons?

Cheers bud!

You need a 3rd party launcher installed, either something like go, nova or apex, I personally prefer apex.

You then need to download those icons there, transfer them over to your mobile (SD card or wherever), hold down on the icons in the dock and there should be an option, "edit" choose that and then another option "replace/change icon", choose that and then choose "select image without cropping" and choose your gallery and then find the image/icon and select it.

I've done that with Apex, but it doesn't seem to mimic my normal screens and what i've already got on them, the screens just start blank again.. but when i start to add widgets i.e. minimalistic text for the play store e.t.c. it won't let me due to limitations of the android framework.. Apparently I can't add widgets from the drawer without root access.. Is there no way to customise the dock icons on the normal touchwiz screens?

I know it's a whole different kettle of fish but what are the advantages of rooting for a normal user? And do the pro's out weigh the risks?

Thanks for the help and patience :P

Apex won't look the same as the touchwiz launcher, it is a completely new launcher on top therefore replaces the touchwiz launcher, you have to re add all the shortcuts/widgets again, but you won't be able to use touchwiz widgets with apex etc.

Don't use that method of adding widgets, hold down on the homescreen until a pop up box is shown and choose to add a widget and then choose from the list.

Nope, no way to with the stock launchers.

IMO with top end phones like the X, S and GS 3, not really, you only root if you want to:

- use ad block
- change themes of the notification bar and system menus etc.
- use some apps like titanium backup
- flash custom ROMs, which bring tweaked features and improved battery life etc.
- flash tweaks so you get better video recording quality etc.

Hmm, go sms reset all my settings for it today

Uninstalled now :p

Back on stock sense SMS app, just wish this stock ICS/JB app would have a black background and different colour text/background for either ingoing or the outgoing messages.

Or/and for this ICS sms beta app to have more features like privacy mode etc.

Or better yet, for stock sense SMS app to have a black background! :p

The stock Android (4.11) SMS app is the best I've used. Functional and well designed, unlike Samsung and HTC's attempts. And what's with the DPI setting in those? One message basically takes up the whole screen :(

Or better better yet, ditch sense and get on aosp :p

hehe, but I love sense V4! :p :o

That AOSP SMS app is gash.

Samsung SMS > AOSP.

Wonder why they didn't keep the same colour scheme as the AOSP dialer?

Would look so much better!

And yup, you can also adjust the text size on the stock sense sms app via pinch to zoom in or out, it looks perfectly fine as default though, default on the left and zoomed out on the right:

The background colour for outgoing messages is white.

Could you explain how to work the minimalist text app? I'm trying to get my head round setting up a bit like yours with battery usage and data usage but can't  Also, with Apex, can you install "music" for android app? I want that one specifically on one of my homepages because it has the handy soundhound plugin.

Thanks

It is a very complicated app :p So instead I am just going to upload the backed up setting for one of those widgets, which you can restore and use and change to your liking if you want :p

https://www.dropbox.com/s/36fu8g4mtj7p131/play_store_final.mtpref

Those widgets are just simply static text boxes with 2 different text types applied and then custom font colour etc. for each type of text with a basic shortcut attached to them.

Here is a small guide to some of the basic stuff:

http://devmil.de/MinimalisticTextDocs/MiniGuide.html

Basically all you need is the custom layout part, where you add the static text and add stuff like battery readings etc. then choose the text type and change those settings i.e. the colour etc.

You may need to remove some of the spaces from one of the static boxes in order to make it look "right" regarding how even it looks etc.

And of course you just have to change the static text to what you want and the app that is launched when the widget is clicked on.

What do you mean by this exactly?

Also, with Apex, can you install "music" for android app? I want that one specifically on one of my homepages because it has the handy soundhound plugin.

Do you just mean the music widget?

If it is from a 3rd party app i.e. poweramp then yeah just hold down on the screen and add the widget, if it is the stock HTC/touchwiz music widget then no you won't be able to.
