Correct me if I am wrong, but is google talk not needed for some stuff? iirc there was something mentioned about it in cerberus???

For any Sky customers, the Sky+ app has been updated now so you can mange your Sky box's planner and use your device as a remote control.

I'm pleased with that. Will be interesting to see how snappy it is.

Dunno Nexus, I've always deleted Talk.apk on my S2 and Note 2. Never had a problem, I don't uae Cerberus though.

Just had a look there and you're right no need for talk, only required if cerberus isn't working:

Please try these steps:
- Verify that your device has a connection to Google servers: open Google Talk and see if it is connected.
- Verify that your device has a connection to Cerberus servers: open Cerberus, log in and then exit the configuration.

Only if you're on Sky+HD us non-HD paupers have to stick with using the actual remote as a remote... how primitive!!

pretty sure I read somewhere that whatsapp needs google talk - if you disable it you may get delays on receiving messages

Well I always get delays with whatsapp anyway

Will just keep gtalk enabled, doesn't seem to use much, if any battery, probably cause I am never signed in

All signing in to gtalk does is help register with the push server sooner, it's NOT required for it to function correctly.

It's basically a diagnostic step for when things don't work.

What's the recommended way of doing that? Use Root Uninstaller, or delete all traces of apps through ES File Explorer?

I normally just delete from /system/app, disabling (where possible) in Settings>Applications>All is fine too though unless you want the space back.

I can't be arsed deleting all the other files left behind from the apps I delete since I don't need the space and leaving them doesn't do any harm .

I cba buying TB since it doesn't do anything I can't do myself anyway.

LOL, adverts work fine on rooted devices... then the show starts and the phone just locks up. Brilliant C4. Brilliant.
