I sold my Galaxy Nexus to a friend. I went in through settings and wiped (inc SD card) beforehand, but today I got a text and e-mail from Cerberus saying a new sim has been entered into it?!?!

Is it because it gets installed as a system app? Should I have flashed a ROM over it perhaps?

Kinda cool really, so even a thief wipes the phone, you can still control it :)

Block it, when he comes to ask what's wrong, unblock it and charge him for the 'repair' :D lol

But on a more serious note, yeah - it's because it's a system app, means it's still installed to /system/app (or similar) and doing a factory reset only wipes /data/*

Get him to bring it back to you and just manually uninstall it (or change the details to his so it'll work for him)

Lol woops, thought I was drawing a Scarf but must have clicked Godzilla by accident.....my bad ¬_¬

Yeah Cerberus is installed part of the ROM so wiping it wont delete it out - You would have to flash another ROM over the top of it.

That's only when it's running yeah so anyone looking in running tasks etc won't know any different. The apk name remains as is though unless you manually rename it and manually put it in the system app folder. No big issue though.

Anyone else use some of these?

I'm using the calendar one, I had problems with the vending.apk - it totally removed the play store from my app drawer and I had to reflash CM9 to get it back lol

Not sure if that's because my CM9 is custom and very much unofficial...

Make backups of your apks in /system/app before you install the inverted ones and if they go pear shaped, just restore the backups :)

Someone earlier recommended Nandroid backup for backing up entire phone. I downloaded a zip but have no idea how to use it.. The website seems a bit lacking also.

Any ideas or other methods of totally backing up my phone so I can restore it exactly how it was?
I need to replace it due to the Xperia S screen tint issue, but don't want to have to reinstall and re set everything up again! :(

You have to be rooted to do a 'Nandroid' backup, it's not an app of any kind. Are you rooted? If not I'm afraid I don't have any other suggestions
