Essential Android Apps

I'm looking for a widget that will toggle the connection to a specific access point from my home screen.
I use a GoPro Hero 3 a fair bit and I use my HTC One to connect to it via WiFi. What I want to do is to have the GoPro AP defined as a widget that I can just click to connect to it and then click again to disconnect.

I've tried this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=idv.wangyik.WifiWidget&hl=en but it just crashes whenever I try to create a widget.

Elixer 2 with the Elixir 2 - Widgets add-on has a wifi selector. Haven't tried it myself.

My question - What do people use for task tracking? I've got a lot of deadlines to keep track of, but I'd like something that I can use on my desktop too.

There's so many to-do list apps on the Play Store, I'm thinking of just using the Calendar :p

All the new updated apps.....Maps, GMusic, Play Store, YouTube, Now, GMail, etc are all the same UI based on cards.

I expect to see it all unified system wide in Android 5.0

I love the direction personally, I'm not one for Sense/Touchwiz etc, The only decent thing I think Sense/Touchwiz brings is the Camera app, Everything else I don't really like compared to stock.

You could say Sense browser also but I don't miss that since installing AOSP browser.

Indeed, I think the light card UI is a good direction to take holo.

I wonder if the system framework will ever get a makeover. The black/blue style is starting to look quite contrasted against the card theme.

I like the card look/layout, but not fussed on the all white theme. Would look so much better with the true holo theme (black/dark grey/blue). Unfortunately I can see google getting rid of that from the very few areas it still applies i.e. dialer, system settings, notification tray with KLP and going with the white theme look :(

Not totally keen on the new YouTube app, seems slower so far and the 'mini view' just seems to get in the way a lot of the time. Also a bit frustrating that they've moved the HD button to the menu so now it takes more taps to drop the quality (which I have to do every single time because HD ends up buffering).

Only YouTube would have an app that defaults to HD on a phone, but a website that defaults to 360p on a PC.

Mine doesn't default to 360p on the PC i set it up in the settings to always play HD ;)

That is annoying with the app though, it really should have stayed by the seek bar, I like the mini window though looks sweet on a big screen.

You can't, it's either "Always choose the best quality for my connection and player size" which it never actually does, or "I have a slow connection. Never play higher-quality video".

A simple darl/light theme switch would means that everyone gets served :D

Me neither, those extra steps are annoying and the new features don't really interest me; sticking to the older YT app, though mine is modded to get HD over 3G

Same here :D:cool:

Chrome add-ons FTW!

Gtasks for to do lists (syncs with Google calendar tasks) and keep for notes (syncs with Google keep notes).

No still doesnt. Shame, wonder why they dont implement this simple feature.

Copyrights.
Companies don't want people to use YouTube like a music service. That's why Google will never implement it because they simply can't due to the material hosted on YT.
