€ Steam Users - Why pay more :o)

Hey Gimpy

Sent you cash for Bad Company 2 yesterday. Thanks a lot for doing this, in the end this is a lot of money saved by you dedicating your time to this!

Thanks again

Hi Dude,

I sent you the game yesterday but you have not claimed it has yet.

I sent it to your Steam email address as mentioned in your email.

You are now in my friends list. I have resent the gift to you.

It may have already been answered in this thread, but I can't see where the difference between 'gift' and 'goods' lies in regards to a paypal payment. Now, Gimpymoo is a somewhat respected long-time forum member, so I wouldn't question his motives right off the bat, but is the difference in price really worth teh extra risk? As far as I unerstand it , it's next to impossible to reclaim a gift fund on paypal. Not that the distinction is that great in this case - "I paid gimpymoo so he could gift me a game on Steam, in order to bypass regional pricing regulations" doesn't smack of a winning argument to me. Regardless, is the % cost difference that great between payments for gifts and goods?

Only a few £/€ here and there but it all adds up, why pay more if you dont have to?

Also, even if you paid via a none gift method and I did a runner, you would still not get a refund as the Paypal refund gurantee does not apply to none digital goods or services :)

For what it's worth, I'm up for helping anyone out that needs it if Gimpymoo doesn't mind me helping.

I think regional pricing is disgusting, I find some of steam's UK prices to be ridiculous at times, I feel sorry for people buying in Euros.

Very generous of you guys, this has been getting a lot of publicity here in Australia too. Australians used to be able to purchase from the US store but cannot anymore (well without doing a bit to get around it) & are charged more in $USD.
People in Australia started using the UK & US stores for purchases but Steam put things like IP region locks in place when purchases are made, can't comment on this myself as I have never used Steam before, it's just what I read on various Australian forums.
I definitely want to purchase the Valve, ID & Unreal packs from the UK store as they are pretty good value for money.
Thanks

Sorry, im at work at the moment. How much is Shattered Horizon if I pay this way? I was going to buy it a while ago but forgot to

Thanks a lot, it's actually a birthday present for my mate so i'll get him online ASAP to claim it :D Once again thanks for providing this service :D

Isn't it illegal to prevent EU people using the UK store, and UK people using the EU store? I'm sure Apple have recently been in trouble with EU over that for iTunes

I have a spare copy of Shattered Horizon left over from a 4 pack if your interested.

Is a great game. DIfferent, granted but awesome none the less and VERY competitive and skillfull, hence why I suck at it.

Thanks. How much do you want for it? Will probably take it, even if it does run a bit crap on my 8800GT

Yes Tefal it must cost 15€ per game more to have translations? ;) I only buy English edition games so why do they cost more here in Belgium? Sorry that arguement doesn't fly at all.

translations and a whole legal department to redo all the publishing and legal stuff to get permission to sell it in your country.
