Euro Truck Simulator 2 worthy of purchase

Having to try reinstalling :(. Since playing again, my game is having some kind of stutter/spike issue. It'll spike from 60 to 67FPS every so often with vsync turned on. Tried without vsync but still does same. Happens on all graphical settings and an unmodded profile is the same.

I used a steam game mover to move it from my HDD to SSD, so I wonder if it messed up somewhere. Hoping a reinstall can fix it.

I've only really experienced this when running the game in opengl or when the scaling is far too high in the graphics settings, I use 200% scaling.

Anyone ever had issues with ETS2 and RivaTuner Statistics? I've just had to uninstall RTSS as it was causing my game to freeze for a second every so often. Never used to be an issue when I played in the past.

Was it attached to MSI and were you monitoring a lot of things ? That can cause issues with a game. I use MSI with RTS and only monitor my gpu fan rate, as I had a problem with it a little time back. Its sorted out now, but you know we all get paranoid after something goes wrong, gaming wise. ;)

Yes it was. I think I was watching all 8 cores temps, GPU power, usage, temps, FPS and RAM. Not sure I had anything.

That is probably the cause of the game issues. Best not monitor too much, knock each off one at a time to see when things get better. But to be honest, don't bother too much. 'Speccy' gives you an oversight with no drawback issues. Not as good, but the bare essentials.

Guys, I'm looking to get this but I have a question regarding the DLC?

How do all the expansion packs fit into the main game, do you have to load the main game and then choose which pack you want to play or do they all integrate nicely into one big game and the jobs/locations all just come up as you progress?

Thanks :)

You gave me some hope, so I reinstalled to try again. It didn't matter how many things I stopped monitoring, or how many game profiles I deleted, the issue was still there. Again though, once uninstalled everything is fine.

It's not a big loss as I usually have HWMonitor open in the background anyway.

Works exactly like this. Only loading screen will be if you take a ferry and the initial loading of the game. Everything flows very nicely.
Correct. You could take a 3000 mile journey with the right mod and never have one loading screen aside from ferries.

Excellent, thanks guys, think I'll pick this up in the Steam sale :)

Just went a little Truck crazy, bought the game, plus lots of DLC including the Italia/France/Scandinavia etc... Also picked up ATS as well with a few bits of DLC :D

What controllers are you all using? Thinking of picking up the Xbox One controller? Does the PS4 controller work with Windows PCs?

Control pad works OK, definitely preferable to a keyboard as it's got analogue sticks for steering. I started out on a Xbox 360 pad. Xbox one controller when USB connected should work fine.

Nowadays, I'm using a Fanatec wheel ... but that's as a result of iRacing. If you want a wheel then the Logitech are good. G29/G920 was on offer for £149 in the post Christmas sales a few days ago.

A decent wheel is 900 degrees rotation so it's 100% accurate and there's some force feedback. Keep in mind it's a truck, not an F1 car so you're not feeling every pebble on the road. ;)

Decent starting point is something from Logitech. Driving Force GT is a decent starter wheel and no longer made, looking at £50 ish secondhand, or a bit more for the G25/G27. The new G29/G920 are console compatible and a bargain at £149 with the shifter.

Anything from random brands thats cheap is usually rubbish and not proper force feedback.

Thanks guys :)

I'm assuming that the G29 & G920 are the exactly the same bar the buttons for the consoles? Peddles and shifters the same?

Also, do these 2 options feel solid and well made? Is there a nice solid resistance to the parts?
