Euro Truck Simulator 2 worthy of purchase

daft question, is it just driving or does it have the ability to work as say a route planner for a company? So telling trucks where to go, planning the routes/loads?

no, you can hire people to work for you but they just get their own loads or just annoyingly come back empty

you can work for yourself picking what jobs you want out of a long list if you are driving them

@Ali, I tried top down which wasn't too bad, but I'm terrible at judgment and figuring out which way the truck turns when i'm turning left/right when reversing etc. I'm glad I don't drive.

It's mainly driving. There's a Route Advisor that automatically plans the route like a TomTom. I just generally meander around the map picking jobs I fancy, then pick up another load from there.

The management side is very limited. You can buy garages in most cities, then buy trucks and assign hired drivers to them. You can direct their training to unlock skills for hazardous and specialist loads, other than that they just sort themselves out and the money rolls in after they level up a bit. They tend to pick up job in the home city, then grab a backhaul job at the other end if available. If not they come back empty and you take a minor hit.

It doesn't matter what truck you assign to the employees, a 310hp bottom of the range Iveco with moon mileage will still complete the same AI jobs and earn the same amount as a many axled 750hp Swedish beast with a custom paint job and lots of stick on tat.

I've employed all the drivers I can find, it's making me €1m a day and I can't spend it...

That was the one bit it took me a while to get used to. Some of the jobs involve some really tight parking in chemical plants but once you get the hang of it it actually becomes quite good fun. I dont drive either, put me behind the wheel of a car and its something akin to Carmageddon.

Thinking about starting a twitch stream, playing Euro Truck and about to start a 2000+ KM haul to get achievement, if anyone wants to watch you can click the link in my Sig

Would like to know if its running smoothly, you can leave message in chat or on here or PM my twitch, I do need to know what the best settings are to use with this using OBS to run the stream..

Its still early days yet so no CAM or MIC just yet (Don't think I will do CAM at all really) The profile info is a bit messy right now will have to clean it up eventually :)

Feed may be a little laggy to start with if im alt-tabbing and stuff but I try try and keep it going without pause

Thinking about doing convoys in future if anyone's interested but will just be playing SP for now to get these achievements

Watched it for a few minutes. It's working OK.

You checked out Squirrel? He's mildly infamous in ETS2 circles for Sunday Night Trucking.

I have been following SGT Pepper he does a lot of convoys online, not heard of Squirrel but I have not looked at many channels

I finished the 2 long Achievements finally.. 2000 km + 2200 km with €130k

Turns out you have to drive the full 2200 KM so ferry mileage doesn't count, found this out the hard way :o

Given you a follow qlimaxuk, done a few convoys with sgtpepper in the past, haven't played mp in awhile.

I've finally managed to complete all the achievements and explore 100% of the map. :o

So, first mission after the tutorial, stopped at a junction and some woman drove into me. Then, going down a straight road and managed to tip it on it's side :o

As for seeing to the right hand side when cornering its impossible. Kb for controls isn't great either, need a controller or wheel I think.

I find KB is fine once you play around with the controls and a bit of practice, a wheel will always be better of course.

Use the extra mirrors by pressing F2 if you're having problems seeing the right hand side.

I use an Xbox 360 controller for ETS2. Works well enough by assigning the most used functions to the pad, leaving the rest for the keyboard.

I use only the nearside mirror on the F2 function, my camera usually has the offside mirror in view.

The amount of hours I have put into this, unreal really. I used to go driving in a truck in the summer as a lad, and by driving I mean sitting in the passenger seat board as hell but for some reason this game hooked me.

I downloaded "Truckers Map" by Goba. An actual russian trucker no less! Made this mod.

As you can see, the mod vastly overshadows the base game, and there is more than on the screen...
