Europa Universalis IV

Yeah, directly on Bohemia the take the capital PU for claim on throne.

The two nations I called were rivals of Bohemia so had to bribe them with a land offer (which I had no intent of offering) to get them in.

I started again and took them solo without any allies :p

They only had Memmignon and Nurnenbug as allies so quickly wiped them, played the terrain and handled them pretty easily. They offered a PU peace with me and 300g for the pleasure.

Oh well, after all the heartache it is done :p

grats!

They are only small allies but if you leave them alone you'll get swamped, taking them out of the war as quick as possible is well worth it.

In my game the Burgundy thing fired before I finished the war, but Castille got the territory lol.

Cheers :)

Hungary rejected my PU and instead went it alone which was a little irritating. Took a few territories off Venice but before I could finish them Poland attacked Hungary and I defensively declared so had to but my Venice conquest short. Fought out a draw with Poland which was irritating as just as the tables had turned and we had Poland on the ropes Hungary took a white peace :p

Yeah Hungary are annoying, tbh they will probably be a target of attack from the Ottomans too, you could drop them as allies and eat them up yourself if they prove troublesome.

You really want to get the Burgundian inheritance though if you can.

Randomly just got Palatine on a PU off a marriage I had forgotten about :p

Got a Burgundian marriage so hopefully will be able to get that as well.

How much stick do I get internally in the Empire if I pummel another member? Don't particularly want to risk it in Ironman without knowing the consequences :p

If you intend to pass the reforms and revoke, not a lot of point in doing it really as they'll be able to be your vassals later on.

If you want to declare war to enforce return of unlawful territory then that is something you can do no penalty.

Generally want to focus efforts on eating stuff outside the empire, especially if you can get to killing France at some point who otherwise can become a bit of a thorn.

I stayed up far too late and I'm knackered now heading into the office, forgot how horribly addictive this game can be :p

So it's 1502 and I've began incorporating Bohemia. Can't get the Burgundy event to pop but the Shadow Kingdom did so I've chewed up a bit of Milan to get me going down there. Hungary was destroyed by Ottoman and Poland (I wisely swerved that war) so I took some of Hungary in the aftermath as well as all of Venice bar the island itself so I have a good sized little empire.

Unfortunately I've been gimped almost all game because my enemies jeep getting the Papacy and instantly excommunicating me as a weapon. This is really slowing down any expansion as everyone dislikes me (barring my PU's and a few others) in the empire and especially outside so if I try and take too much territory in any war in getting huge alliance webs spawning against me so it's slow going.

The excommunication thing is the biggest hold on me, probably going to sit and improve relationships and incorporate Bohemia and do little else for 10 year. That should nice align with my king dying (he's 61) and excommunication passing so I can hopefully get back on it.

Going pretty well all said and done.

It was Poland controlling the Papacy then it was Lucca. I'm fine with the Papal States (not huggy super friendly but steady) but both time the new papal controller has been an enemy of mine and then blitzed me with excommunication.

Does anyone happen to know of a decent UI font mod that changes the event message text?

I'm using the Stellaris one at the moment, which is great, but the event description is still shown in the original font which is just painful to read so I'm finding myself just ignoring the event details and just selecting whichever option suits me best, which takes away some of the immersion.

I noticed Arumba's mod changes the event text as well but I don't think he puts that anywhere for download unfortunately.

Also helps with your gains on papal points too I think, so you have a better chance of becoming pope.

Fixed papacy issue.

Advice needed; I've got a claim on the Brandenburg throne, they've got poor allies and I could take them. Problem is I wasn't expecting this so my alliance broke on claiming the throne but I have a 5 year truce.

Do I break truce and just take them? I probably have enough admin points to fix my stability hit if I do this but then will probably have to deal with the war exhaustion.

I've lost an ally in them claiming the throne as it is so tempted to just go all in and deal with the impact. What do you think?

Recently mopped up the rest of Venice bar the island and took Croatia which had been freed from Hungary under a PU so growth so still booming.

How big are they?

About 12 territories.

I bottled it in the end anyway as I was looking at 135 aggressive expansion and around about 20 nations making an alliance against me.

Hasn't worked out too badly as I used the time to solidify my finances, lowered the autonomy across my empire and dealt with the upshot of that (but now taking in pushing 6-7 more gold a turn) and have taken Mantua and the remainder of Hungary in a PU.
