European Football Leagues 2012-13 [Spain/France/Italy/Germany/other]

Revenge? They've won the league, the Spanish cup(whatever the fa cup equivalent is), beaten them in several la liga games, why is it the least important cup is revenge for the 5-0?

As for Barca, they need to use Fabregas better, last season he was from joining used briefly in central mid with Villa ahead till the leg break, Fabregas was awesome with a striker to actually pass to, then they pushed Fabregas upfront and he was awesome. He was awesome till xmas when they started switching if he started or not, playing him in a different position every game, switching Messi from right to upfront every other game till he was finally only upfront.

Messi as a striker for Barca spends too much time deep, Pedro on the left helps as he makes a LOT of runs. "old" Barca at their best had any striker + left and right wings making constant runs in behind and 2-3 world class passes of the ball to feed them, they've almost completely stopped focusing on that type of football.

Barca are playing less well because Messi shouldn't be played as the out and out striker, he's far better coming from deep with someone AHEAD of him to play 1-2's off and to make space or be in space to receive passes from.

Song... lol, Mascherano, lol, Pique, Lol, Adriano, no where near good enough. Iniesta, massively over rated, he does do some epic passes, but he'll spend 80% of every game running and ignoring passes while running into a dead end. When everyone plays great he can make great passes and great interplay, when the team isn't playing well Iniesta is usually annonymous. Tello/Song/every reserve defender/complete lack of central strikers/backup is whats hurting Barca.

Valdes has made some big errors but look what his defence does, leave even the best keeper in the world completely open and they'll look a complete fool. Sure in the first leg he did badly and should have just shanked the backpass into the stand, all keepers do stupid things now and then, the massively open defence is what led to all the goals, not the keeper.

They need Villa back and to play him as the central striker, push Messi back to the right, play Pedro left, never start Tello(not till he improves at the least), start Fabregas and give him a run of games in a single position, or at least restrict it to two positions and play him frequently. Aside from Messi he was quite easily their second best player till xmas last year when games/position started being smegged with.

Let's hope they don't, and that rubbish on Twitter the other night about Fabregas getting fed up and thinking about a loan back to Arsenal ends up having some truth to it lol.

I really enjoyed the match last night, was more like a premiership end to end game than anything i can remember in european football for quite some time.

Real are still suffering from the lack of killer striker a la drogba or RVP. Hugian and Benzema are world class but they are not as clinical as a team like Real need.

Barca were all over the place for 30mins and then the class came to the top. I am not sure how they train the minds of the players but they all know where each other will be in a move. Its like watching american football plays. The amount of balls that are pinged into places without really looking was amazing.

I'm not sure Benzema and Higuain are world class. Madrid miss a striker that fits into that category but they have Ronaldo, who needs a striker :p

Benzema on his day is a joy to watch but too many days he looks like he has been out on the beers and shots the night before. Higuian is very good when he is able to play the way he wants and not the funny positions that mourinho puts him.

tbh I still think of Benzema as a bit of a flop, okay fair enough he scored a lot of goals last season but I dont think he's become the player everyone expected when at Lyon nor has he actually nailed down the spot as Real's main striker

Higuain on the other hand I think is class, not the greatest goal scorer (in terms of his finishing) in the world but still a really good player

Guess the above probably doesn't make much sense but then I reckon there were different expectations for the two players (I dont even remember Real signing Higuain)

Think real missed a good chance of crushing barca.

There's been 2-3 games where with better finishing in the first 35-40mins they could have been 4-5-0 up against Barca. Half of those they ended up getting punished for it later in the game as they nearly always end up tiring and Barca take the initiative back 2nd half. Benzema and Higuain in particular score a lot but get a lot of chances too so... they'd probably benefit greatly from more clinical finishing as they do rack up costly misses.

When Barca beat RM 5-0 they made them look like a sunday league team. RM just returned the favor and humbled Barca.

Real Madrid beat Granada 3-0, Ronaldo gets 2 more goals but goes off injured.

Barcelona playing now against Valencia. Always a pleasure watching them play.

Great player! Didn't really like him last year, but he seems perfect for the Zeman formation and play style.

Roma look much better than last year. Defence is still somewhat shaky, but the attack is much better than last year. Every attack seems dangerous, unlike last year.

A lot of twitter things going about and various quotes and interviews about Ronaldo being very unhappy and wanting out of Madrid.

Couple of UK Journos picked up on a tweet from the official Liga BBVA one, who apparently twisted his words but others are denying this and posting the video of the interview etc.

Guillem Balague is saying that apparently he's told Madrid that he wants to leave. Loads of things flying about, apparently unhappy with how Kaka is being treated.

New contract times is it?

Aside from an occasional off day I thought Higuain's finishing was great last season, IMO he is a better stiker than Benzema although he doesn't offer as much in terms of physical presence.
