European Grand Prix 2011, Valencia Street Circuit - Race 8/19

Oh you meant the team not as a fan... Still got abu dabi to sit through :(

Could you break Vettel's car for a few races just to close up the championship fight?? Please?? Ill make you a cake?? Or a nice BBQ??

Yeh once it is physically impossible to be caught we will take the foot off the gas and concentrate on 2012, cant say fairer than that!

Good driving from Vettel, tire management was spot on. Conditions seemed to scupper McLaren's chances, overheating the clutch, overheating the KERS and Hamilton just doesn't compromise. His radio did amuse.

On to the good tracks!

Unfortunatley [sp] a bit merry lol] mate we have to build cars that cope with various conditions be it the heat of Bahrain or the uncertainty of places like Spa/Montreal. Over heating your rear tyres because you went for a wing that you thought would give you better use of the DRS is a risk you take. Sometimes it works and you are heros, sometimes it dont and you are in a worse position than the race before.I have no doubt MCL will bounce back, how long it takes i have no idea but, im sure they will at some stage.

even if vettel didnt get on the front row, he would have to finish 5/6th for several races with the same race winner to close the gap.

and from what we have seen, that aint happening.

but then no-one (apart from JB) has been able to consistantly pressurise him to cause him to crack either

With him back in the pack - might enable more to put pressure on him.....

(Im not saying that he would crack for definite, but more teams / drivers have to try and cause this to happen)

-edit - Well done (through slightly clenched teeth it has to be said lol) to RB, drive your own race and with so little pressure yur going to win. McLaren (and Ferrari if necessary lol) have to step up and be more consistantly on the pace from the word go to make the races (and quali so that the race itself becomes easier) more competetive

Well, Lewis and Jensen won't want to be 4th and 6th at Silverstone!

Would be interesting to know who chose the setup of Lewis's car - whether its a team decision or the drivers, as 4th was the best he was ever going to get today (given Ferrari's performace)

JB was unlucky with KERS malfunction not to be 4th or 5th (and with a better quali , wouldnt have been severely hampered by Rosberg's terrible pace at the start, which could have made 4th /5th more like 3rd/4th)

Weekend to forget for McLaren unfortunately....but at least the pitstops were pretty handy for the most part)

How long until the titles are 100% wrapped up? No wonder the FIA are worrying - there will be little point in watching.

I would love to know what makes the RB so quick.

Vettel can put his feet up though, even with a few bad finishes, with all the other drivers taking points off each other he just keeps extending his lead.

I would love to see Vettel get a poor start, or see another driver like Hami/Alonso in qual machinery to see just how good he is.

So you think we should do a bad job and let the other teams catch up a bit?
Bloody hard work from the boys in the factory is what makes us so quick :)

very boring race, very dull track

Vettel drove well as usual.

Silverstone will make or break the rest of the season.

with regard to the off throttle EBD, this race pretty much showed no change in the race and slightly closer in qualy as expected.

From what I gather Mr V ran no off throttle for 0.5 hr in P1 and was nearly 2sec slower.

Unfortunately if you're a McL fan, McL don't seem too optimistic.

Nah, keep going - but make the most of it (and I really don't mean it like it sounds). As we know from F1 history, a team will get a dominant few years, then the order will change (for one reason or another, usually because the FIA turns against them).

Unfortunately, a dominant team is usually bad for F1. Tbh I watch no matter what, but I know so many people who have stopped watching just because it has become so preditable.

Thats a fair enough comment, watching Mike Tyson destroy all put before him became boring so i can see where your coming from.

So annoying when people moan about dominance in a sport, you don't see people complaining when Messi walks on the pitch for Barca because he pretty much ALWAYS scores.
Loving the season atm, a little more drama would have been nice but amazing racing from Seb again. I feel sorry for Karthkeyen lol must be pretty crap being right at the back ALL the time HRT in general make me :(

Missed a big chunk of the race, although I had some live text updates on my phone (just a browser page)

Congrats to Vettel for another win. Good to see that the mistake at Montreal has put him off one bit.

From what I saw it was a boring race. Where was Hamilton crashing into someone. :P.

Because that's like comparing apples to nuclear reactors.

It's not Vettels fault that the rest of the field are, by comparison, crap. He has what is obviously a fantastic car and is a good driver. That doesn't make up for the fact that if RBR manage to win both championships with 6 races to spare that its going to hurt viewership because people will just say "Whats the point in watching, Vettel will just cruise from pole to the checkered flag."
In football a team is capable of playing in such a way that you keep a player out of the game. In F1 the only real way of beating your opponent is to develop a faster car or get some luck with accidents/rain etc.

For RBR its great, they get lots of money and plaudits for winning lots of races, but for the rest of the fans and in the interests of the sport the other teams need to pull their thumb out and nail some performance on otherwise the championship it's not going to be interesting even if the races themselves are. Vettel could well win this years championship having made the fewest overtakes for position of any world champion. Not his fault, but not exiting either.

While the other races have all been quite exciting, its rarely been for 1st position. This could go down as one of the most exciting season for racing in years but the world champion won't have actually had much part in it because his car is so much faster than the competition.

I have no beef with Vettel, he seems a likable guy with a good sense of humor and is practically the opposite of Schumacher in that regard. But I don't want to see him and RB blitz every race for the rest of the year and honestly thats how it could end up.
