Even Honda and Nissan are exploring a merger.
BYD in MK is just round the corner (literally) from Seat/Cupra.
Popped in there when we were early for our appointment. I’m really not convinced with their car’s competitiveness at the current prices, I don’t get the fuss.
MG, it’s a name on a cheap car and it shows. But the prices seem relatively reasonable.
It is big though, very big, have you seen the repackaged development mule doing the rounds at the moment, its buggy like and looks targeted at Rally, it's smaller, lighter, really hoping this is a basis of an incoming smaller variant.
I've a list of motors to pick up once my daughter has passed her test and I no longer have to drive her Up!, the 5N is the only EV to make it on my list having driven most things, though it's a rank outsider against the ICE in list even if it'd be the cheaper thing to own (assuming depreciation isn't tragic) it did raise a proper chuckle when I drove it, but feels in no way worth the dough, quite low quality. I'd want to fit the speakers they did for Pikes peak though, make it proper ASBO
got to pay for the one(s) they wrote off on pikes peak
If the home grown nissan/renault leaf offers on-board bi-directional v2g that will add to its attraction

may be a good idea to get one if you are in market for a charger at all, now ... wonder how octopus go, and like, will respond with tarifs.

Sorry but it’s quite pathetic and sad that they are putting childish pretend engine ******** into an EV. Nothing says more desperate than that and it doesn’t even sound remotely realistic in that video. SOOOO fake.
I remember doing a test drive in a Mach-E and the salesman being upset when I asked him, “can you turn of the childish engine noises, I’m not 12”.
The first setting I turned off the day I got my I-Pace was the pretend engine noises. It’s like when you put a tin can in your bike mudguard as a kid because it sounded a bit like a motorbike.

Many high profile ‘petrolhead’ motoring journalists thought exactly this before they drove one. After they did, they put it up there as one of the best cars this year. Some even made it their car of the year.
Be interesting if ‘Mr anti-EV’ himself, Harry M, is ever going to try it.

It’s a 5N if you want the fast one, you get this. If you don’t want the gear changes you don’t turn them on. Pretty simple. The GT EV9 also has it which is pretty nuts but as they had paddles for regen all the hardware is there anyway

Fake sounds aren't even an EV specific thing or even that new. The relays clicking when you've been indicating for the last decade or more... Fake. The different engine note when you stick your car in sport mode... Fake. Even the weird fart sounds that DSG equipped cars make when they shift are curated purely to add some element of drama.
As for your comment to the car salesman I'll quote a chap I know via work who used to roll this line out every time someone caused awkwardness like that - "I bet you work with computers"

No, you misunderstand, my issue is not that it’s not as good as an ICE supercar for the “soul” but that I don’t see the point of an EV even trying.
