EV general discussion

I've had an IX3 through work (salary sacrifice) for almost a year now. I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I'm enjoying the EV experience. While a bit more range would be nice, I haven't encountered any major issues.

ID 7 has completely died today while my other half is out and about.

All displays off, but will go into gear. Obviously can’t drive without a speedometer

Getting out the car/locking/seatbelt doesn’t work.

Car is being collected by VW as haven’t been able to get it working other than a couple of warning lights.

What a mess that car is. I'd be throwing it back to them and walking away.

TSLA stock taking a massive dump today.

Dropped 11% in 2 hours and still going down.

VW provided an MG something through enterprise.

Will remind them when I’m back from holiday tomorrow that we’re paying for an ID 7 and not a bargain basement product.

Don’t get me wrong, good that they’ve provided a car at short notice. Not acceptable providing a cheapo MG.

I’ve been thinking of trying one out - some of the deals are very tempting and it looks a decent car. I know you’ve had quite a few issues with yours though. :(

how has it/ID7 been to drive versus his 320d with misty headlight (you can forgive a lot if it's funish)

I think this will make it very clear, but I would absolutely give another a go.

I’ve given the finance company 2 options, one of which is a replacement ID 7.

I really like it. It’s properly fun to drive for an electric too and as rapid as you ever need.

It isn’t as premium as the 320d I had before but the seats are delicious.

300 mile+ summer range is very nice as well.

Don’t be put off by my experience. Be cautious, and make sure you’ve got a good local VW dealership who can actually look at it (all bar 1 local to me couldn’t). But don’t exclude it.

Prefer the ID 7 to drive because electric drivetrain and no ZF8 which I’m not a fan of.

Electric is so relaxing and stress free. 280 bhp and ample torque make for a top level driving experience.

I think a 330d would be a tough choice. 320d just misses on a bit of poke.

Has anyone had a chance to look around the new A6 E Tron Avant in person yet?

My local Audi had one in while I was having my S4 Avant serviced last week so took the opportunity to take a look around/sit inside. I've been watching the updates on these (and the S6 E Tron Avant) for some time as I do love a good estate, but I came away with mixed feelings :( The thing that got me immediately was how small it felt inside for such a big car. Rear legroom especially just felt cramped. I assume some of that is because of batteries under the floor and a slightly raised floor but even still, it just wasn't what I was expecting. Granted I only had 5-10 mins looking around it but it was an interesting first impression! Having then got back into my S4 I'd say it probably felt about as big as that inside.

Not seen one yet but I was curious. Quite a few reviewers have said the same thing about the i5/5 series as well, surprisingly small back seat space. But that's a unified ICE/BEV platform.

Back home now.

Enterprise have provided an MG5. I got in it today and what a heap of poo.

Don't get me wrong, it was great they got her back on the road, but it is not in anyway shape or form an equivalent product to an ID 7.

In addition, they gave her the car with barely enough to get home - 6% left after driving very sedately. Apparently they don't have electric car chargers on site so can't charge them.

Alphabet started off really helpful, but have now become completely unresponsive.

Local VW garage reckon that they're going to update the software which will fix all the issues :(

Feeling like deja vu here.

Possibly any interior space problems with i5/a6etron will be improved with neu-klasse 3 series -
their battery tech explanation had said they will have two battery pack designs high(suv) and low(saloon) profile, don't know if audie:mercedes MMA will have such a config for CLA saloon, too.

It wont as they will just lower the car the same amount. the neu-klasse wont fix Audis will it.

Basically its not an SUV so you have less room as the cells take up Z stack regardless . Vehicle packaging 101.
