Lucky The Government haven't got the Ability to track such "subversive" behaviour, across the entire population now and the aggregate internet connection data of an entire Nation, tin foil claims in 3 2 wait for it 1

Different Labour party to today, and not the same thing at all...

Brown wrote to the DUP prior to the election saying he would not institute spending cuts of the kind proposed by the Tories. At the time, it was seen as a "bribe" for DUP support if needed, which it possibly was, but no discussions with the DUP ever took place about any kind of support arrangement.

Very different scenario to actively engaging with the DUP as the Tories have now done.

It's a completely different senerio, Labour lost in 2010, Tories won the 2017 election. Who know's what Labour what labour would have done if they only needed a few seats to form a majority. I expect something similar.

How the **** is that in charge of defence, clown.

What's the difference between a cyberattack and a physical attack on a nation? They can both have huge implications and a nation needs to defend itself.

Are you the sort of person who thinks pirating music and films is not theft as you haven't stolen something physical?

Nobody even knows who most of these people are, vague claims of groups in North Korea and "Russia" - which is anything from the visegrad group eastward - isnt funny, so saying you'd bomb some indescriminate target because you "believe" it harbors criminals is just... wow.

Worse than the Iraq ***** that ruined this country.

Give over, who the **** is going to bomb computer hackers except some war mongering idiot tory yes man.

Some spotty, pasty teenager sat in his bedroom no.

A state sponsored hacking that damages your national infrastructure should be treated the same as a physical attack if the consequences are the same.

pirating music and films isn't theft... and yes that is because you've not stolen something physical

Since when is stealing intellectual property not theft, I agree it's not common theft but it's still theft.

Not to weird anyone out but I agree with dowie.
Theft generally suggests depriving the owner of the stolen property!

I can see this being a very common theme over the next few months.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...rantee-local-government-budgets-a7809216.html

"Well Northern Ireland got an extra £1bn to buy 10 votes, but you won't pay for ABC, or you want to cut XYZ".

Not paying for fire safety upgrades seems particularly petty after all the mistakes and now seemly empty promises the government have made over Grenfell

But I guess some of that is down to the local councils - if they'd ensured their buildings were safe to begin with then they'd not have this issue - some local councils made a decision to go with rock wool for the insulation for example and have updated residents to say that their buildings are safe (I've seen one such update along those lines). If another local authority has cut corners then there is of course an argument that they ought to be the ones to pay for it - obviously if contractors have lied/cut corners and done something illegal then perhaps they need to be pursued by the local authority.

Albeit you could point to squeezed budgets in the first place but if councils are to blame (I'm not really sure where it lies) for complacency over this causing the issue you could say why should the government pay to rectify their mistakes.

Besides I'm sure there are a few bonuses somewhere that could be slashed to cover it

If the building regulations are wrong, I think the buck stops with central government.

However, my point was more focused on how the government squares cuts with bungs for votes.

ah fair enough, and yup if there is a problem stemming from central government re: regulations then I'd agree - though that is yet to be clarified

It's local government that are to blame I'm sure.
I had a journalist friend who knew people that knew people and in the London borough where we lived there was no end of semi dodgy, rule bending, backhand dealings every month.

Many years ago I did work experience at one - it was an interesting experience. A lot of the staff wandered in around 9am, spend a good hour getting settled then around 11 would be getting ready to spend a good 2 hours on lunch before finally getting down to some work in the afternoon.

So the amendments to the Queens speech.... Corbyn has played an absolute political blinder. Tories vote to end pay freezes on public sector works = Governmnt singing to Jezza's tune, Tories vote down amendments = Tories are nasty, spending money that doesn't exist on DUP and NI and the MMT does "exist". The Tories now look awful either way and backed up into a corner.
