explain why Bodybuilding isn't gay

You've worked insanely hard and you're at competition level... why not see how you compare with other people, just like in every other sport?

Because that makes too much sense - I bet he watches football or other sports where boys/men idolise other men to the same levels. Some become so obsessed it's beyond infatuation.

I think it's a good sign of being comfortable with your sexuality if you can appreciate the hard work another person has done to achieve their physique without feeling uncomfortable about it. It's only gay if you're sexually aroused by it, and I can confidently say that most guys that go these shows go there to support their friends/family. Sure, just like any show some people will get a kick out of it. I like seeing the figure athletes (women) go up on stage - but then again I find athletic women extremely attractive.

I bet kwerk is one of those guys that never gets naked in a changing room, and takes showers with a swimming costume on. He's got some serious issues :(

AHH but do they parade up n down in a thong coverd in baby oil for men in other sports?

WWF? That's a bit gay - big men grappling over one another? Rugby? Men grabbing and rolling around with each other in the mud?

Heck any sport with body contact between 2 men = gay clearly.

Seriously, what the hell's difference does it make of the sexuality of the person anyway? Furthermore, if you get a kick out of watching any sports with men, then clearly you must be homosexual too - right?

I've had enough of this thread...

It would be weird if they did... as it's not required.

Body-building is all about the physique, so... how would you suggest showing it off?

the baby oil is for the lighting, and if you think it's gay, while I (a straight male) doesn't, I think that says about you

This has been done to death, it's hilarious how narrow minded people are. The same folk who are brought up in a cult like football environment, following the same team and a bunch of pansy players till death. Ugh!

There's nothing gay about trying to impress teh ladies.

There is something wrong if you're bodybuilding to impress women. Couple of things wrong, really. Firstly, it's not going to work all that well because the general tendency is for people to consider bodybuilders to be "too much". A bit of muscle, yes. Much more than that, no. That tendency has strengthened over time, to the extent that androgyny is the fashionable ideal for men nowadays. Secondly, if you're going to put time and effort into your own body, you should be doing it primarily for yourself.

Is bodybuilding as gay as a daisy?

Don't know. Don't care.

Lol, this thread is quite amusing. :p I don't think you can say an entire sport is gay however I don't know any girls who find bodybuilders attractive.

To women, professional bodybuilders, no! They'd all state 'disgusting' and rightly so, it's not for attraction it's for competition purposes. Strong and muscular men, yes.

I'm struggling to understand what difference it makes either way.

It's not "gay" in and of itself. I'm sure that due to the law of averages there are some gay bodybuilders, in the same way that I'm sure some of us have a gay GP, or somewhere a homosexual was responsible for designing a bit of the car we drive.

I suspect the only reason the OP is raising it as an issue is either;

a) a lack of attention as a small child spilling over into attention-seeking behaviour as an "adult"
b) he's in denial
