its a mere 500RPM baby

would have been nice if they had reviewed with say a 1200/1600RPM 140mm would have given a better idea of the heatsinks performance vs standard 120mm fans

it will get there... have raised the bar for what I can achieve at normal room temps.. but well my TRUE just doesnt cut it with the sort of heatloads I need to move.. fans are ace... heatsink is failing

you could always just take the heatsink out of the equation

That is quite interesting but i see the same sort of issues with the TRUE.. what I really need to find out is the thermal load of the heatpipes.. I.e. how much can they physically move.. because I am certain the issue with the TRUE is that I am putting out more heatload than the pipes can move.. hense the slow increase in temps.. as I can drop the fan speed and reproduce the same results which would suggest that I am moving enough air over the heatsink just it cant cope with moving the heatload from the CPU

I know the whole point of this topic is extreme AIR cooling.. but you would save yourself a lot of stress if you just watercooled

Could it be an extreme water cooling solution with a bathtub as a res, a 5L V8 mustang engine as the pump and the rad from an oiltanker...

I think you might find though that regardless of cooling you may have simply found the limit of your CPU?

dont know until you try... nights are getting a bit cooler now so might try a prime tonight at lower ambient.. just need to keep temps below 63c
