eXtreme Air Cooling - Build Log + Overclocking

lmao thats awesome mate :) started off thought hmm they arnt to bad then omg lol can only imagine what 4 will sounds like haha if and for the love of godf get some fan guards on them and keep small pets and children far far away lol or they will get sucked through

yeah i have some 140mm gaurds :) catching your finger in 120mm is bad enough wouldnt like to try these ones out

Final install i will run the power supply at 27v, nice thing about the powersupply is that I can adjust the output (12-48v) and the AMPs the fans will draw will be well within tollerance so should get a few extra RPM out of them :) and will also help negate the small loss in power that using the PWM units produces. Its also nice that they have an RPM wire as well so will connect them up to a 3pin connector see if I can get some readings off them

you are mad, your case is gonna sound like a jet...or an air raid siren if you keep fluctuating the fan speed

call me crazy but i think id rather move to liquid cooling solutions rather than go deaf :p

I will probably go water at some point... just wanted really to see what this could do.. name of science and all that :)

Good project. :) Shame you're not using the TRUE but it'll be interesting to see what temps you get, and the fans sound reasonably bearable at low voltages.

I am using a lapped TRUE and Q6600... same heatsink / CPU as my 4.023ghz primestable run

This is my TRUE:

Nice work cant wait to see the final result.

Reminds me of a hot summer many years back our returns/tach room at work was super heated thanks to a buggered AC unit. I cant remember quite how the idea started but we ended up getting all 20 delta fans out of the stock room and using tie wraps we made a "wall" of fans.

It took 3 AT power supplies to get them all running and when finnished it made a noise like no other.... it also could hover over the desk, able to lift the weight of all the fans-( no mean feat ) we had to hold the psu's and extension cables though. The boss got a wiff of what we were upto so the experiment had to be hastily abandoned before we refined the idea. Ahhh such fun we had .

sorry for the slow updates been waiting on the new ducting to arrive trying to use 80mm is just to loud! sounds like I have a wind tunnel next to me!

So thought sod it and tonight have just got the cable ties out...

Should give you an idea about how big these bad boys are thats 9600 OCZ with the full heatsink lark

Whole thing is securly tied to a cross support had to be very careful installing the MB close to 2k of fan and heatsink

I can run at 3.2 with the fans at 5v and the processor idles at +1/2c above ambient (24c), load @ 3.2 is currently a cool 32c across the cores (at 5v)... I really want to open up the throtal but g/f is sleeping.. :( will have to wait for the morning

well caught my finger in one earlier (at low RPM) thankfully... it bloody hurt... good news is that have wired the RPM lead up to a 3pin header and I can get readings off the MB for them :)

thank god someone mentions the ambient temperature and not just the CPU temp :D 26 degrees processor is really bad if your ambient temp is around -40! (hehehe)

Good work man, good to see people still going strong with proper AIR!!!

mabye for the next project build your own climate controlled room? with lots of fans and filters :D:D
