Well, first place is looking pretty set, having been the same two days running, but there's still various battles going on throughout the rest of the table. Also, for the first time, the newsmeister has risen from last place. :)

Bigstan's really impressive, his x2 3800 is destroying the rest of us! :eek: He's over twice my x2s score with ony 600mhz and half the cache on me! :o

I'm really rather surprised myself.

I thought the 512Kb cache would let me down against the 4400 and the Opty 170 and that the HT of the dual Xeons would edge them ahead but it would appear that raw speed counts for quite a bit in this game :cool: (or perhaps I've been luckier with WUs - although, it doesn't appear so).

Still over a week to go - anything could happen :)

I think there probably is some luck with the WU's TBH as 600mhz cant account for twice my score! :p I think i may trade in my xeon for a high clocking 3800 rig!


I sound really jealous in that post but i promise i'm not! :p

From looking through the work you've been assigned last night you seem to have had mainly Gromacs and GBGromacs WUs - I'd always thought they liked high RAM speeds and tight timings but in those departments you're not exactly top of the class :confused:
like you say raw speed seems to be doing the trick nicely so far - we'll have to see if duncandonuts has pulled anything out of his magical bag today :p

I think it's interesting to note not just who is crunching the most points but who has gotten the best deal. I went into Bigstan's spreadsheet and added in everybody's current scores to see who is getting the best Points per Day per Pound Sterling. Check it out:

Dunc does seem to have made up a little ground since your post but my trusty 3800 is still holding out.

I don't think it's as clear cut as you seem to think - I'm anticipating a close finish and enjoying the scrapping amongst the middle order.

Looks like someone new got a 622-pointer. If that finished inside 24 hours, that's damn good going. Unfortunately, it looks like someone else new got an EUE. Hope that overclock didn't go too far. Top two ought to get a wakeup call from Mr. Cannot-Configure if that production continues. :D
