F1 2009 Season discussion/development thread

Rumours are abound that the diffuser on the BrawnGP, Williams and Toyota cars has been deemed illegal under the new regulations...

I'm not sure it is. If BrawnGP were there, they probably wouldve gone 1s faster.

Obviously, we can but speculate - but the fact that wasn't any similar speed increase from the Williams implies that the McLaren has gone forward rather than there having been a simple increase in performance, don't you think?

I concede other explainations are possible. We won't really know until the race weekend.

Since when? They have already had it looked at and passed. Someone might contest it at a race weekend, it will then be looked at again and decided if it is legal. They might re-clarify a rule but so far I've seen nothing to suggest it's illegal other than Flavio moaning that he hadn't thought of it.

The rumours surround the FIA clarifying the regulations regarding the dimensions of the rear of the car.

*sigh*

Renault are just sore that they didn't think of it first. Hopefully any changes (if the rules are "clarified") won't spoil the BrawnGP car.

It doesn't matter tha car has already been cleared. They will still race that way and then if they change the rule or 'clarify' it they will still keep the points but have to change the car.

Planet-f1? I'd rather read the sun for late news :D

Thats the same story others reported days ago.

There will be a big big push from inside F1 to make sure that Brawn car stays legal. I will be very suprised if that brawn is a fast car come melbourne and it gets passed illegal. They will want to show the world what a team can do on a smaller budget.

So does anyone other than bernie and his little band of merry men actually like this new scoring change?

Brawn GP could slip into a sound security that they could bag some wins early on if their testing advantage carries forward to the races. But that would be a selfish reason which is what the FIA are hoping for I imagine, to get the midfielders support.
