F1 2009 Season discussion/development thread

Please let me do the rain dance please!!!
It makes for some extra fun on the track
(ive actually missed you guys, looking forward to next weekend now! :) )
Ive learnt some new moves to counter - though my pelvis may turn into dust :(

Oo-er missus :p

ps3ud0

Good times. Wet races should be even more chaotic with less downforce this year. Wonder how Massa will cope - imagine trying to accelerate and use KERS at the same time! He might be able to beat his Silverstone effort :p

knip - ofcourse you can do some rain dances - But we have to see how the cars do in the dry first next weekend :D

HAHA! Thing is I can actually visualise that in my head!
"And its Kamikazee Massa down the straight!!! He's pushed the boost button, MASSA WHAT ARE YOU DOING ITS THROWING IT DOWN!!! Now hes up in the air and flying straight towards our commentary box........." *Feed from the BBC goes dead* :D

So what's everyones viewing plan for Australia then? (TV details here). I was going to watch first practice (as the first bit of F1 being shown on the BBC) on the red button but realised I had to go to work the next day, so I'll probably just watch the Quali and race live and skip all the practices.

Im going to Alton Towers on the Saturday, so im planning to watch as much of Qualy as I can before I have to leave - Bristol to Alton Towers....FUN! - and then come home, have an early night and get up to watch the race live and be on here as usual.

Oh dear, I'd assumed that it would be on in HD. What a shame.
It's been covered quite a bit in this thread. It's not the BBC's fault. Hopefully for next year :)
For the meantime enjoy the lack of adverts :D

As to the race weekend, I'll be watching the race and qually live, however not 100% sure if I'll be online at the same time. We don't have wireless in the house now so I may not be able to browse at the same time as watching. Might go buy a nice long Ethernet cable :p

Hope you're going to pay a visit to OcUK whilst you're there! :D

Really looking forward to the start of the season, hope it's not a let down!

At least we have back to back weekends to start us off with.

Im away for a 'romantic weekend' with the missus! :(

Deal is, im allowed to get up at 6 to watch the race, if I cook a full fry up for us after, which I think is a fare trade.

With the GF staying at mine the Thursday nite before heading off Friday, quali and practice are both out for me :(

Im missing most of the opening F1 weekend and the Southern Motors Meet because of her... the sex best be dam good or shes going to owe me big time :)

Massa isnt so bad. He is a slow learner, who tends to peak towards the end of the season after he has mastered the car. Last year, the removal of driver aids hit him hard in the first few races, as did the wet racing, however, as the season progressed, he learnt how to handle wet conditions and driving without aids, which culminated in him winning the final (wet) race.

Funnily enough, this forum berated Massa at the start of the season, when he struggled without aids and also predicted that it would suit J.Button. How wrong they were - Massa finished only 1 point behind the World Champ, while Button struggled to contain his almost retired teammate.

One was still in a brilliant car (at his home grand prix), the other was in a complete dog

If the car is a complete dog (which it blatantly was) wtf do you expect

Just because no one predicted how terrible a car Honda could produce

Button was on the wrong strategy like most of the rest of the teams and the team took a punt on Barrichellos tyres and it paid off. 30% drivers fault in all honesty. He's just trying to go againt the patriotic grain becasue we're a predictable lot :p

How wrong were they? Massa was struggling without TC and in the wet. This was a fact. Who knows whether it was his or his cars fault. There was some speculation that his engine map was wrong at Silverstone.

It was a *very* widely held view for most of last season that Massa had some throttle control issues. Obviously he put in a stonking race in Brazil but that mostly got forgotten because that race was, in the end, all about Hamilton. Still the terror on Massa's face when it started raining on the starting grid was genuine IMO. He was definately feeling the butterflies right then.
