F1 2009 Season discussion/development thread

I've never seen/heard from anyone who dislikes accusations made in the direction of the FIA showing bias towards Ferrari, as you JRS. You are very passionate about this topic and you must learn not to take it so personally.

I don't take it personally, I take it seriously. Subtle difference.

I just happen to think there are so many better things to be accusing the FIA of than a non-existant pro-Ferrari bias. I mean, if the FIA really are biased towards Ferrari then they truly suck at it. After all - Massa lost.

What really gives me a wry grin is that people are allowed to get upset with me to the point of actually e-mailing me when I refer to Hamilton as The Messiah™, but if I get frustrated at you for not reading what I'm typing, or certain members' paranoia about Ferrari, then suddenly I'm getting knocked for being a bit narked off.

Speaking of which, can you do me a favour this year sunama? Will you please read what I type on this forum? Don't make me have to repeat what I did several times last year and make posts with links back to all the posts you missed, it takes too much time and I'm really getting bored with having to do it!

...far too seriously. And given that this is just a forum, it isnt worth it.

It almost sounds like an order. But anyway, I won't bother arguing.

Here is a great article by Martin Brundle, on Alonso:

It also give info regarding the engine development that Renault have been allowed to do for the 2009 season.

Never has so much truth been said in so few words! :)

Well, the powers in F1, assisted Massa in getting extra points at the Belgian GP and assisted Massa further by reducing Hamilton's points haul which he gained at that GP when he won it. This closed the Championship right down and Hamilton only won the title by the narrowest of margins - Massa actually thought he won the title when he crossed the finish line, but Hamilton got an extra point at one of the final corners of the final GP in 2008, to snatch the title.

I just hope 2009 shows as a more competitive season with more drivers being towards the front of the grid not only in qualifying but also in the actual race.

Looking at the testing times a lot of teams seem very competitive so far, really looking forward to seeing how Red Bull do as the car seems to have had a lot of development time spent on it.

you know this week will drag like hell, im just looking forward to a full race coverage with no annoying breaks once again, just like it should always of been, stupid bbc lol

Oh I know!

To make it even better my girlfriend's friend has arranged her house warming party for the night before the race! I'm trying to convince her to make an excuse so we can leave early so I can actually get some sleep before the race! :D

That trailer is really awful though :(

A friend of mine (Pickers, he's on here somewhere) said a much better advert would have been an F1 driver going round a track, then a voiceover saying "Formula One. Now without breaks!" before a panicked look comes over the driver's face and he crashes into some tyres.

"After a bust-up with team principal Ron Dennis, he threatened to hand over information to the sport's governing body, the FIA, incriminating McLaren in the escalating spy row over Ferrari data.

He also apparently demanded that Hamilton's championship charge be compromised in his favour."

Thats the first time I've ever read or heard about Alonso demanding Hamiltons car was basically tampered with or else he was going to the FIA about the teams cheating.

No great driver should have to go to those lengths, despite how much of a complete package I think Alonso is, he's scum.

Regarding that renault extra horsepower, was there much up roar on here last year when Ferrari pulled the same stunt?

"They demonstrated that they were running with less power last season because they had interpreted the development freeze more literally"

I don't get it, how have they interpreted it more literally than the other teams?

Tampered with?? I don't think so, It reads to me that he just expected him to concede places on track to support his championship bid.

Plus its well documented that other teams did upgrade thier engines to improve reliability which was within the rules, this had side effect (at least according to them) that it improved power, renault didn't do this with theirs.

JRS, there isn't really much to say. Some people will always be Ferrari or FIA bashers and will never listen to reasoning unless its a reason to bash Ferrari more. Cant change them, and why would you want to really? If we all agreed there would be no point of this forum ;)

after all we hate success in this country, and since Ferrari have been so successful the last 8ish years its the in thing to hate them. Its probably why there's so many BrawnGP supporters. Its the underdog (although its not looking that way).

I'm a "glory hunter" according to my mates, even though I've supported Ferrari since I started watching F1 (93/94) during the Berger and Alesi days, but yeh, im a glory hunter... sigh.

He's the best that F1 currently has to offer. I wouldn't say he was scum (thats a strong word), but he is certainly selfish in always wanting his own way. But then if you go back through history, most champions have been selfish and wanted things their own way (MS, Senna, Prost, Fangio, etc).

It could also be argued that Hamilton himself was very selfish, in that he wanted Alonso out of the team, as it interfered with his own ambitions.

Its that single-minded selfish, determination that makes a great F1 driver.

Drink all night and party up until the race starts to be honest!

dusk till dawn gp'ing, its been a few years since ive tried that, then you have to watch the repeat anyway as you cant remember what happened first time round :p

just wondering what Ferrari International Assistance will try this year....

Ahhh the F1 season wouldn't be the same without good old JRS 'leaving' the threads would it. :D

I've arranged to work Thursday night/Friday morning (from home) so I can watch everything live and not have to worry about getting up to go in the office in the morning. ;)
