F1 2009 Season discussion/development thread

He is ok sometimes, a plus point is that some of the teams might to be less reluctant to talk to a guy who has been doing it for years, rather than some new kid on the block.

Ted Kravitz was fine IMO. He always seems to be in the right spot at the right time during the race...

No Louise Goodman though :( I'd rather her than EJ to be honest. EJ can get a bit tiresome after a while...

That's why it's annoying, there are occasions where Ted gets it spot on. As NathanE says, he's good at being in the right place at the right time.
There are often times where he just wants to stir **** though, deliberately missing the important stuff to ask trivial rubbish. :(

How much of that was him though, and how much the ITV production crew? We'll find out in March I guess.

I'm going to guess you never heard Murray Walker and James Hunt commentating ? Pure, solid 100% comedy gold :D

"And James has just nipped out of the booth to take a look at the other side of the circuit"

Yeah, right Murray.... You just couldn't say that he was outside smoking a huge joint and getting wasted. :D

you dont need three pit lane reporters though - barely enough for two (and I certainly wouldnt have chosen TK myself), and TK would be even more tiresome in the studio imo

EJ and DC should make a good pair in the studio (so little commentating apart from possibly when MB is on his annual holiday)

Looks like Rubens has started to spill some of the stuff that went on:

Rubens Barrichello has this week continued his tirade against Ferrari and Michael Schumacher.

The veteran Brazilian, whose record-setting formula one career looks at an end, has followed through with his promise to one day reveal more about his six-year tenure with the famous Italian team.

On the Brazilian TV programme Fantastico, he claims he was threatened with the sack while he led the infamous 2002 Austrian Grand Prix.

While circulating in front of Schumacher, Barrichello said he was told over the radio: "Do you know that Michael is behind you? It's important for the championship."

He said his conversation with the pits lasted for eight laps, before an ultimatum was presented on the final tour.

"The intensity of the conversation increased with every lap. And then I was told to think about my contract," said Barrichello.

"For me it was clear - take your foot off the gas or you will be going home."

Barrichello said he was appalled by the turn of events, and asked Schumacher afterwards if he had anything to do with the decision.

"He said he had nothing to do with it, but I have the documents at home to prove that he was aware of everything that took place," the 36-year-old insisted.

If true it doesn't surprise me. I remember a few races where Barrichello was all over MS but never made the move. Never liked MS, a lot of it was handed on a plate when he had poor fortune.

If Barrichello is turfed out of his race seat this year then it's a damn shame. If anyone should be cast away, it's Journeyman Button, bring him back when the cars a little faster and he can be ******.

There were a few races that were handed to him, by his team mate. He won 91 and I dont believe that more than 5 of them were handed to him. However, we have seen this happen in other years, whereby team mates let their team leaders overtake them. Its called team orders and is not exclusive to Ferrari or MS.

For example, in 2007, we saw Massa give Kimi the lead to the Brazilian GP, when Massa was clearly the dominant driver. I havent seen a single person talk in a bad way about Kimi. We could argue that the title was gifted to him by Massa.

IMO, MS remains the best and most complete driver ever, in F1 and if I were putting together a dream team together, MS would unequivocally be my No.1 driver, Prost my No.2 (Senna would be conctrollable), D. Hill the test driver and Adrian Newey the car designer.

Red Bull have bought back their 50% share in Toro Rosso from Gerhard Berger. Strange? Two fully funded teams, but with sales of Red Bull likely to be on the decrease?

Will try to explain it to you later via text, still getting filled in with all the details.

Got some of the newer polo shirts as well, will sort that too.

Strange? No.

"Eh excuse me Mr Mateschitz... you know that 'junior' team we used to part own.. uh huh the one you sold your share of... well they comprehensively tanned us this season................. buy them back? Yes sir"

If you only knew how wrong that statement is. STR did bugger all to deserve there rise other than inheriting the ferrari power plant. We did all the development work on their car,all the updates and all the aero. The differnces were the engine and Vettel.
