F1 2009 Season discussion/development thread

They need to find incentives for the people at the back to try to move up. At the moment teams like Honda and Force India qualify at the back, race at the back, and finish at the back, most of the time having given up hope of moving up by about mid race.

Its not easy for a back of the pack team to move forward. To do this you not only need a team who are technically gifted (which usually costs money and where the best personnel are already in leading teams, hence, dont want to make a move down the pack), but also a great driver to pilot the machine they produce. And to attract a top line driver to their car, their car needs to be half-decent in the first place. This makes it very difficult for a team like Honda and in particular Force India to move forward; especially when you consider that they will compete against the likes of Toyota who boast the biggest budgets in F1 history.

We havent seen KERS in action in F1, but I think its a fantastic idea and if I were a driver, I would be relishing using a gizmo like that. Defensive drivers like Trulli will use it to defend their position during the race, while attacking drivers like Hamilton will use it to overtake. The altering of wing angles will also be used similarly.

The World Drivers Champion of 2009 will need to not only possess fantastic race craft, but will also need to master the array of technological gadgetry that he will use during the race.

KERs or whatever should be interesting imo, just need to wait and see how it turns out..

He completed a few races... but must have been one of the unluckiest drivers the past season lol.... crashed into over 5 times.

Does anyone know where I can get a timetable of official winter testing sessions... I would like to know when im going to be confronted with the uglyness!

Apologies if this has been posted already but: http://www.itv-f1.com/news_article.aspx?id=44674

Yep, it will be a completely car free event. There will be no sectator cars, no team staff cars, none of the circut staff cars, no cars for the drivers to come to the track in, no support race cars, no safety cars, and even no F1 cars....

... They will all be at another circuit somewhere else in the world.
