Interesting. I wonder whether that will have implications for comparative race/qualifying pace. I'd presume some cars/drivers will benefit more from having free use of the wing, and with the gaps between Quali positions being so narrow at times I wonder whether that could make the difference between positions on the grid.

I personally think that's the wrong thing to do. It means in qualifying the cars with the best overall downforce (i.e red bull) can gain even more of an advantage and use their rear wing adjustment in places others couldn't making the fastest cars even more untouchable, and here's me thinking things might be even closer this year.

Agreed, and it seems like the logical thing to have done in the first place.

Was it not thought of / designed to aid overtaking? If so there is no reason for it to be allowed in quali, imo.

Yup, 5 weeks away still the first race now!

Could be a blessing in disguise for McLaren though, they desperately need some more test time in my eyes so they can develop and extract as much as they can from the MP4-26. I think they'll only be too happy to have the start of the season delayed.

I wonder if they'll run 2 tests instead of one... Seems like a good opportunity to give the teams an extra couple of days running (and just make up some sort of rule book extension) to make sure no one turns up in Australia really really screwed.... *cough mclaren cough*

On the upside, Australia is a better track for the first race than Bahrain anyway.

I'm sure I can't be the only one glad to be rid of the atmosphere-vacuum that was Bahrain.

Only downside is an extra 2 week wait.

I hope it doesn't get tagged on at the end of the season. Could be a very boring end of the season with Bahrain and Abu Dhabi among the final races.
