F1 2012 - Teams and Drivers - Who goes where?!

hes also not short on money (has his own jet doesn't he) so if he really wanted to he could pay for himself, but i suspect he wants someone to want him

Indeed, Heidfeld has to be the better prospect for points scoring and team progression.

I'd much rather see Sutil take that seat or Bruno Senna, Heidfeld is dull as dish water and plain average imo. Plus Sutil and Senna both have money behind them which will help Williams.

Maybe you are right - but I think Rubens is a valuable commodity for Williams right now in that with the engine change over the winter, they have a known reference if Rubens gets to drive the Renault powered car too (which should help massively in developing 2012 car), and lets face it Williams NEEDS as much help as they can get at the moment (well to be fair they have for quite a while unfortunately)

Ive got nothing against Bruno, he deserves a chance without a doubt (still always thought Sutil was a bit average though), but a one year deal for Rubens makes more sense (and the money coming in from the other seat should be enough to balance the books anyway)

I'd also prefer to see Senna take the seat but I would think that between Rubens and Heidfeld it would have to be Heidfeld for me.

I kind of agree but I really think that Senna could excel in a decent seat, especially as you state with the williams getting the new engine. I think Rubens has had his day, he made some pretty silly mistakes last season which someone with his vast experience should have known better. It depends what Williams are looking for at the end of the day, development or outright points. I agree that Rubens with his knowledge can help to develop and your idea of a 1 year drive is a fair point. I do also believe however that Senna could blossom in a decent team, with decent development and eagerness for past glory.

It will be interesting to see how things progress :)

I hadnt considered Rubens' mistakes last year, which is a very good point

I just want to see the Williams team back where they belong (or even Williams Renault). That team name will always bring a smile to my face, I just hope the design basics planned over the winter are deserving of the engine so they can cement solid points finishes on a regular basis again and proceed up the grid from there

Yep me too, it would be fantasic to see a Williams Renault on top again. If they do design a good car around that engine then things may happen, let's see. I'm looking forward to the new season (as always) but what I do not want to see is a RB on pole and winning every race, that's plain boring.

I think his problem is that this year he has had his best finishes, he wont want to go to a team that cant get him what he has now, which means Sauber, F! or maybe Williams.

I don't think so, until HRT can provide less of a lemon I see little benefit in driving for them

I honestly think you would be better off taking a test / reserve driver role

Yeah a year out testing and proving your skills in another series (DTM being the top target but there are plenty of other options) would be a better choice, especially as he in younger than me! (he's 21) so no point in ruining his career traipsing around the back of the grid in a gp2 car

hrt is the nail in your f1 coffin, i dont see why anyone who thinks they deserve to be in the sport on skill would drive for them.

maybe if you suck but your sponsor money can get you a drive for fun or something...

I was thinking that if you left F1 to go eslewhere you may drop out of the shop window. I suppose Grosjean disproves that to some extent... I would use Kimi as an Example, but Ex-champions don't seem to have issues coming back at the moment!
