F1 2012 - Teams and Drivers - Who goes where?!

Someone's not happy
"Whatever happens," said Felipe Massa last week amid rumours he could lose his Ferrari seat, "at least I know I've never had to pay to drive."
oooOOOOooooo

As for Williams, I think the fact they have felt the need to try and explain that Senna was employed not for his money, means that is exactly why he was employed...

The only reason he had a seat as long as he has is because he was the only lackey/idiot* willing to tow the Ferrari line and become the donkey that peddles the second car, with no hope of a championship or race wins unless the favoured driver becomes either A) injured or B) completely unmotivated and disillusioned with F1.

*delete as appropriate. Or not, should both apply.

Trulli has been speaking to Italian newspapers about this year and told them his contract is safe, and that he's off for a seat fitting next Monday.

Okay maybe he's not leaving... they're just making him... reserve? Or test driver?

Please, Tony. PLEASE.

Yeah, they have been saying for a while that he has 'a contract' with Caterham. They have just refused to confirm if that is for a race seat.

I wouldn't be hugely surprised if they keep him, they might like the consistency as they make the plans to move up the grid. Plus it's not like the drivers in the hunt for his seat are likely to be that much better (not that I rate Trulli very highly).

That said I equally wouldn't be surprised if they got someone else, I can't see Trulli having the backing of some and as we all know, money talks!

I agree. I think Ricciardo and Senna would be the only people they would consider over him. From everyone else that is left, he is the best.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear....

Could explain why they are not in a hurry to sign a second driver, being more concerned with there actually being 2 cars!

How can a team who have done very little in terms of car modification in 2 years STILL not be able to get a car ready on time?

And even if they do make it to the grid in Melbourne, another season at the back of the field with no sponsors is surely going to run them into the ground?

The FIA should have chosen Prodrive, tbh.

I used to REALLY like Prodrive (from rallying) - but didnt a lot of the pitlane have major fallings out with Dave Richards, which might have had a baring on Prodrive getting "back" in. I know they werent officially connected to the Honda/BAR team at any point, but Richards was/is the boss of both

I dont know if it was Richards' choice, or whether there were other reasons why Prodrive was never (as far as I recall) associated with BAR while DR was around

Prodrive were the management team in charge of running BAR Honda. Dave Richards and the Honda exec's didn't see eye to eye when they were looking at buying the team.

Honda's management style just didn't mesh with F1 - every decision being made by a committee saw them go from 2nd in the WCC to pretty much last. Unfortunately, Honda employed someone from Prodrive who suddenly appeared to have no spine, so the collapse of the team continued. Good old Fry...

Isn't this the same BAR honda team who developed (in Winter 2008) the best car in 2009?

Who then also decided to drop out...

My comment about Prodrive was more of a dig at the entire FIA selection process for the new teams. They deliberately chose weak teams, and then companed when they struggled.

Lol.

There must have been some massive embarrassment because of the whole Brawn/Honda situation, especially in Japan where image and respect are serious parts of their culture.

However you look at it though, the 'management by committee' style finally designed a good car, and then dropped out of the championship before racing it, doh!

The benefit of hindsight, ey :)
