F1 2015 - Teams and Drivers - Who goes where?!

The backlash on Social Media is unbelievable. I never knew there were so many Jenson Button fans before. There's like three of us here on this forum but on Autosport and other forums / facebook /twitter they are there in their droves.

Some of the things being said makes you have to blink and look again.

Didn't Eric Boullier say that the team were going to make a decision before Abu Dhabi? #fullof**** !

Do you not think that if they had Alonsos signature on a contract they would have announced it? They aren't announcing who their drivers are because they don't know!

It's very strange. Ferrari haven't announced Alonso as leaving or Vettel actually joining so other than Horner saying he was going to Ferrari it's still not confirmed. Hamilton still has a year on what was generally assumed to be a three year deal but could also be a two year with third year option but who has that option? Is it Lewis that can confirm it or does Mercedes have the option? If they really do have 'another 60HP' available then are they playing hardball with Lewis and telling him he will have to either take a pay cut or have no increase next season knowing that it's unlikely he will want to go anywhere else as, plainly, unless someone does something amazing in the off season, a Silver Arrow will also be the car to have next season.

Alonso likely realises this too so is umming and ahhing with McLaren waiting to see if Hamiltons new management company can cut him a better deal at Mercedes or if they manage to demand too much and Mercedes, as unlikely as it may seem, say 'Nein!' And suddenly have a vacancy. Truthfully, I can't see Hamilton anywhere but still at Mercedes next season, possibly even with a new three year deal. Alonso is really playing with fire but, if the deal with McLaren really is signed then I guess it's Alonso's negotiations about his Ferrari severance which is holding everything up and making McLaren look like idiots.

they renew contracts on Dec 1 - seems a very strange date if you ask me.

There must be some (other) reason to that particular date - even sponsors would probably be signed to the 31st surely?

Sponsors would probably sign to the end of November, actually, as that's when the season ends.

I agree there's no way Hamilton is going back to McLaren - certainly not if Alonso is returning as well. Alonso may respect Hamilton on a professional level in a way he didn't in 2007, but he'd not want to share a team with him.

A few news bits in F1 Racing this month suggest a reason - Alonso is very keen to get into the Mercedes team so is possibly only wanting a short stint at Mclaren just in case they drop a driver.

Just announced by Ferrari on twitter:

Official: after 5 years, 1186 points, 44 podiums and 11 wins @alo_oficial will leave @ScuderiaFerrari! #FerrariFamily #GrazieFernando
