Perhaps what we are all missing is the fact that Seb is not going to Ferrari at all! Red Bull thinks he is and so the whole World thinks he is, but maybe just maybe his new chapter is the start of Mclaren-Honda!

And Alonso's great plan is driving a James Allison designed Ferrari in 2015 that will actually win something. After all the only thing Ferrari have said a couple of weeks ago was that Alonso and Kimi will be driving for them in 2015!

We can hope! But I feel his time at the scuderia is over

Shame ferrari couldn't deliver a capable car in 5 years so don't blame him.

Massa is a nice enough chap, but bless him, he has not been the same driver since that agonising world championship loss to Hamilton and unsurprisingly after having an argument with part of Barichello's Brawn suspension at Hungary 2009.

I'd choose Jenson over Philipe without a doubt.

He wasn't actually too bad initially after his accident. He had a decent few races then turned poor. He was 2nd and 3rd in the first two races to Alonso's 1st and 4th. So not bad at all.

Not sure what happened to him after that though.

Doubt Alonso will be staying at ferrari... apparantly had a big bust up with mattiachi and called him a son of a #_€=%£@ before storming out.

I haven't seen any official announcement that Alonso is leaving Ferrari yet... so basically it is just Vettle without a drive next year at the moment.

I imagine that most find that now is an inappropriate time to talk about driver moves and careers whilst Bianchi is still in such a serious condition.

Not at all. Sunday was awful and everyone was taking in the extent of it, so of course it was less appropriate to talk about other matters F1, but are we not going to discuss the race this Sunday?

It will prevent any announcements regarding driver moves of course, but the F1 paddock won't be setting up in Sochi in silence, though I'd imagine those involved are feeling solemn. But, it's happened, everyone is sending their best wishes and there's little more we can do other than move on and, in time, hope measures are introduced to prevent it happening again. Bianchi wouldn't want the F1 world to stop and it won't.

So... f1today is claiming that Hamilton has signed a contract to return to McLaren, next year.

Read this a few minutes ago... hmmm I can't really see why Hamilton would want to go back to Mclaren. Mercedes are likely to be even stronger next year than their competitors. Why give up the best car on the grid to join a lesser car.

We understand Hamilton has a 3 year extension in place until 2017 at Mercedes and it's merely a formality to finalize the deal. @pitlanetalk
