But still appear to be running lower than all others.
Yeah the Merc looks crazy low on the rear floor corner/diffuser. Looks like the have plated the outer edge of the floor at the rear with some form of metal strips (Ti?)

But damn is that an ugly car...
Sure is, interesting and unique but it aint winning any beauty contests.
Ferrari is the best looking in my opinion so far. Kinda drawn to the Aston as well.

My exact thoughts, the ferrari looks incredible IMO, that merc is just a sight for sore eyes. I really hope it doesn't work, not because I want merc to fail, I just don't want ever car moving to a podless design.

I do not think that phrase means what you think it means.

I don't mind the Merc, but it's definitely not one of the prettier cars. The Ferrari, Aston, Alfa, and Alpha all look really good.

All this porpoising is cause for concern though, especially those 2 clips of the ferrari and the williams scraping the floor along the edges.

It does look like the teams are beginning to come to terms with it though, I suspect we'll see problems at the first few races, and perhaps on a couple of the fastest tracks but otherwise I think they'll get on top of it. A bit hard to say how dramatic the improvement has been, though, since we didn't get to watch the first test. Also a lot of cars are running stays on the sideskirts that are not currently legal and I don't know whether the difference would be as clear without them.

Thanks for pointing that out, I meant eye sore but posting while watching testing and working threw me off I guess!

Yeah I think the illegal stays are helping a lot of them out right now, be interesting to see if they get allowed or not.

I wonder if we'll see drivers taking less aggressive lines this year. The cars look like they're going to be very susceptible to damage from the kerbs now.

Proably yes, unless your name is Max, and he knows nothing other than ultra aggressive, bordering outright dangerous.

Can we please just stop with MV/LH hatred in here this year. I've already basically stopped checking F1 twitter and Reddit because every other comment is something dumb an unrelated. It's just getting tedious at this point.

I have no love or hate for either of them, was just a statement of fact.

Times from the morning session:

1. Leclerc (Ferrari) 1m34.531s, C3, 64 laps
2. Albon (Williams) 1m35.070s, C4, 53 laps
3. Vettel (Aston Martin), 1m35.706s, C3, 38 laps
4. Perez (Red Bull) 1m35.977s, C3, 70 laps
5. Hamilton (Mercedes) 1m36.365s, C3, 62 laps
6. Ocon (Alpine) 1m36.768s, C2, 42 laps
7. Zhou (Alfa Romeo) 1m37.164s, C3, 54 laps
8. Norris (McLaren) 1m37.580s, C4, 21 laps
9. Gasly (AlphaTauri) 1m37.888s, C2, 44 laps

Good numbers of laps for most of the teams, McLaren apparently lost time because they needed to switch the car from Ricciardo to Norris at the last minute (DR is ll) so perhaps that explains their reduced running.

For comparison, these times are about 4s down on the first day of Bahrain testing from last year.

+1

Can we still hate Horner?

That did make me chuckle. I'm not tryna dictate anything just a request as the forums is by far the more civilised people of the bunch. :D

I don't want to get into the arguement as its what I'm trying to avoid but it's still showing dislike towards him calling him a dangerous driver.
