The most they could sandbag (be off the pace) and still be 'on it' (so to speak) is about 4-5 seconds according to what I heard on the commentary. i.e. full fuel load and engine turned down, but driver still pushing.

It doesn't look like that is the case though, they are just methodically going through their program.
Call it what you like. They're not setting lap times as fast as they could. So I don't think it's likely that Mercedes is a dog.

You can't read anything into the times at the moment. I neam that chart above puts them behind the Haas...

It's not the times so much as the way the car looks on track. It just doesn't look good. Subjective impressions can be wrong, of course, and I'm just a long time fan not anyone with special knowledge but - usually - cars that are fast look fast as they go around the track.

Anyone else noticed Lando seems to be really struggling with this years car? He has been missing A LOT of corners and suffering from a lot of understeer. I wanted Danny back today to see if its just Norris or the car thats the struggle.

EDIT: That may explain it, I've been watching on mute a lot and just heard them talking about the brakes being an issue and assumingt hats what they were investigating yesterday.

Lando is also suffering from ill fitting shoes, when paddle boarding, that have taken a layer of skin off both feet, so not having the best of tests.

Hm, ,i'm not so sure. I mean Sainz said recently that he knows what they are up to so it sounds like Ferrari are expecting the Merc to be fast.

Apparenetly they have been lifting and coasting a lot/taking wide racing lines etc.

I'm on a bit of a delay on F1TV. Damn that Mercedes is porpoising like crazy. Hamilton's having to back off on the straights now. I'm sure it's just them testing the limits. They're going to have to increase the ride height / stiffen the rear a bit.

I would have thought that like other top professional sportsmen they would have their shoes built for them based on an actual mould of their feet.

I imagine the ones they wear when racing are, these were some shoes he was using for paddleboarding. Not really the biggest of McLaren's problems: apparently they have serious break issues that are stopping them doing long runs and they're not sure they can get the replacements out in time to use them during this test. With that an DR's illness, it's a miserable tests for them. Still, at least their car looks good.

Edit: And now Norris has ground to a halt. It just gets better for them.

Kind of gloomy and dusty on track now, not sure Haas will get much out of their extra running time today.

Personally, really loving the way the cars seem to be a serious handfull to keep under control.

Should make for some very exciting racing i think.

Again personally one of the things i hated most about recent years, was the cars driving around as if on rails.

Far more beautiful to watch them oversteer, understeer, sliding out of corners.

Really hope that continues throughout the year, if not longer.

Makes the driver work for a living :D:D

Just had this in my email. So sign me up that's half price for 12 months. Now TV sport
