That's not too bad of a price, I believe the f1 channel with sky is £20p/m for just the f1 channel. Issue is does now tv still only stream in 720p or have they finally upgraded?

you have to pay extra, its s £5 "boost" package, 1080p, 3 screens and 5.1 sound
so ends up 23.99 a month,
so 287.88 for the 12 months if I don't cancel early.
still a lot better then full price. but they really are conning you with the headline price without boost as its almost needed for the decent coverage.

think it will be 50 fps though on windows/ devices that support.
but our LG Cx TV last year did not support the higher frame rate and don't know if that has been improved yet. often use my PC though on the now app for practice etc so I can multitask

Blimey

On another note, I am getting fed up with these new cars, the porpoiseing is just ridiculous, I don't think I've seen any car really push without looking like they're going to suddenly shatter.

Yeah the side pods are a different shape, but blimey that scraping on the track and bouncing around is horrible.

While I'm on , those new wheels and tyres, what a mess too big, not a particularly low profile, horrible looking wheel covers and the stupid eyebrow things.

The front and rear wings look like something from a kids toy.

There you go, what a moaning old git I am.

You don't have to watch :p

But I do,

Can't have watched much today, or you would have seen the porpoiseing was much less.

Almost all cars were running higher ride heights today, lots of clear visibility under the cars, so 95% of all the bouncing seen was the bumps in the track.

Mentioned by Davidson and Brundle, the much much stiffer suspension, and stiffer tyre sidewalls this year is showing up minor bumps as much bigger than previous years, where the previously far more complicated suspension absorbed the bumps far easier.
Also all the drivers are noticeably avoiding kerbs like the plague, as stiffer suspension will damage things far quicker when bouncing apex kerbs etc.

Should be a lot fewer issues of track limits this year i think.

Been watching the testing and I think the cars are looking great. Except the Ferrari - wtf is that colour, and Matte to boot? Bleh.

Can’t help feeling the floors are going to be quite vulnerable, particularly on kerbs and the cars seem to be squatting quite low at the back too which will compound any kerb strikes. Also the support struts are going to be prone to snapping in many a turn one side swipe!

Overall I like the new cars and hope the field is a bit more mixed up this season. I’m also hoping it isn’t constant DRS trains like previous seasons. I would like following and overtaking on corners to be more prevalent.

Oh and I actually quite like the wheels, and the “wheel brows”. Can’t say why, other than I think they fit the designs well and add a certain quirkiness. Talbot t26 GS anyone? :p

Roll on next week!

Does anyone know if teams have tried to simulate a tow + DRS overtake? Just wondering how it would impact the porpoiseing. It could give a benefit to the following car as the reduced downforce might mean no porpoiseing when in the tow. I guess this would take teams co-operating

Have not seen any teams simulating that during testing, but there have been a few occasions two cars have been following each other.

It has been very good to see that cars can catch up and follow extremely closely, less than a cars length down the straights and through corners.

Also on a couple of occasions the following car did not even need DRS to catch up and follow.

Obviously the major caveat to that, is that we had no ideas about engine modes or fuel loads etc so cannot directly compare the two cars involved.

But it does look positive for close racing and plenty overtakes.

Red bull out with brand new sidepods, first lap they have run today.

Perez driving this morning, purple first sector on instalation lap, and straight to top of lap times at end of the lap by a tenth

Gasly and Hamilton in middle of a few laps of following each other and overtaking each other often, with and without the need for DRS.

Are you sure you are seeing porpoising or are you just seeing the cars move up and down over the bumps due to the super stiff suspension they run now? That makes it looks worse.

There hasn't been that much porpoising the last day and a half really. Especially from McLaren and Ferrari.

Im fortunately still on an old package where you got F1 sports for free if you had the movie package - means I cant change my package but I get to keep F1 at a much reduced cost.
