F1 2023 - Pre Season Testing

I think he means the higher bit bit the airbox, where the Halo goes back either side of the drivers head, going back from there the outer bits are raised and the inner bit has a Ferrari-esque 'trough', looks a bit weird, especially from that aerial view posted by Mesai
Not saying it's not some revolutionary aero design, but it looks like an after-thought compared to some of the other cars, which are more sculpted.

Merc did say they didn't think they'd be in the fight right at the start so they probably have other specs.

I just feel with all the testing stuff it's kind of.... wake me up when the first quali is on. You'll never truly know the potential of each car until then.
Absolutely. Times are totally meaningless.

It would be nice to see cars visually on track, but as someone who only watches on c4 and no access to pre seasonbi have to settle for YouTube clips and stills

Most interested in the midfield. Not really bothered by the front. I support alpine and they could be anywhere from 4th to 8th really. Such is the tightness of the midfield.

I'm assuming it's the same old of the top 3 way in front with small sniffs of podiums from the best of the rest

From that angle, the sidepods look huge. Not sure you could call this design a no-pod anymore.

Apart from Brawn in 2009 who were about 3 seconds faster than everyone and most thought they were just doing all low fuel runs!

Or McLaren in 2013 when they fitted a suspension part the wrong way round so the car was absolutely rapid (and also illegal).

But yeah, I mostly agree that pre-season testing times are all really meaningless.

Someone's going to have to post a picture with pointy arrows added :)

It's also worth noting that this year, this test, and free practice is all they have got. Also, less than a week between the end of the test and first practice, so it's unlikely the cars are going to be radically different.

Where the TeamViewer logo is - the shot Mesai posted makes these look much larger and more pronounced than the 'launch' version of the car. Almost like an entire second sidepod sat on top at Halo level but I think that's more the photo than the car - it doesn't look as pronounced in other views of the car from testing.

We cancelled the Sky last year as the F1 was literally all we were watching. I couldn't justify it any longer. One of the only good things was it was UHD.

I think Ill stick to NOW TV day passes for races Im interested in and highlights for the rest. If Sky had done an F1 channel only package Id be all over that. I'm not interested in paying for other sports Im not watching.

It's nice to see the new cars in action, from the onboard Mercedes seems twitchy compared to Redbull and Ferrari. Russell was working the steering hard.
