F1 Testing 2012 - Week 3, Barcelona

I think its all become a bit of show now anyway. You could stick a trick front wing on and then spend all your time pretending to be hiding something at the rear end and nobody would notice the front :).

Theres got to be some benefit in making other teams think you have something fancy going on :). Like the RBR sitckers a couple of years back, or 'accidentally' letting their new car (which isn't their new car) be photographed before launch.

Its all a game.

Oh, and next weekends listings for the SSF1HD channel are showing on the EPG now :D. Its nearly time!

The angle of the rb front wing is over the top. I don't think it would be legal in a race.

edit=for people who want to see the front wing goto http://live.autosport.com/commentary.php/id/446
the pic of the normal FW is at time line 10.50am and the more extreme one at time line 10.33am

Twitter is suggesting it was broken anyway, so not done on purpose. Apparently a RB mechanic recovered a piece from the track after the car came in.

Illegal on what ground though? Just had a quick look at the regs and there is lots about flexibility and where bodywork is and isn't allowed, but I can't find anything that dictates that the wing must be level?

Clever if they have figured something out.

I can't find anything about vettel coming off or hitting a curb.

Look at the rule about the hight of the front wing. Anyway it may have been damaged?

I like this picture, can see the aero at work.

RBR have lost some ground in terms of mileage this weekend, gearbox trouble for Vettel today.

McLaren, Ferrari and Lotus getting some race simulation done this afternoon, all look pretty consistent. Especially Raikkonen in the Lotus.

Whilst it isn't much competition, the McLaren looks stunning without a stepped nose. I am sure I will get used to them, but they just look wrong! Can't wait for the first quali session in Oz.

Even scarbs twitter feed says it was damaged! Move on people :p

if scarbs was so good he would be working for an f1 team.

what is his background and day job? "freelance journalist/illustrator"

at the end of the day he doesnt know much more than anyone else when it comes to how the cars work.

every slot these days has to be an F-duct etc its just bandwagoning

Not necessarily.

Sometimes you get "mavericks" who shun potential paymasters and continue to do the job, for free, just for kicks and adulation.

It's similar to how hackers work - some hackers are amongst the best programmers on the planet, but rather than be paid to program, they prefer to "hack", for kicks.
