F1 Testing 2014: Week 1 Jerez

Thanks for the thread :p Been following the autosport updates but can't wait for the Sky round ups each evening to see them on track.

With all these problems I can see why teams are willing to sacrifice some of their 2013 season performance so that they can work on the 2014 car.

Car sounds great but I do miss the v10/v12s!

That Ferrari is possibly one of the ugliest F1 cars yet. Mercedes seem to have done an ok job though.

And that's the end of their day. I bet Hamilton is proper gutted about that. A day lost due to their FW design. I wonder if it is a fundamental flaw in the wings design, or if it was just a manufacturing defect?

Wonder if there will be any news on the Team Principle for Mclaren soon... and I wonder if Whitmarsh is even at Jerez....

Yup, obviously things can go wrong, and you would be surprised at how quickly they could strengthen that part of the wing, they likely have several other designs like most top teams.

But without an awful lot of laps and without really pushing the car hard yet it did fail. I said before I hope it's more because of going tight and clipping a curb or something rather than failing under downforce pressure.

A shame as engine/car/electronics wise, it all seemed to be moving forward, 18 laps while the next closest car was on 11, the next beyond that was on 2 or 3 laps. They certainly got in a decent number of laps. THey could have done that on the second lap. But it does suggest they got a lot of things working pretty quickly.... of course that is zero indication of speed of the car though.

Will be interesting to see what kinds of failures testing throws up, the cars were basically stupid reliable, old cars with tweaks for the last few years. THis will be one of those seasons where the fastest car may not win the title, could be most reliable car...... slow and steady... Button actually has a chance :p

I can't view the Hamilton crash at work, can anyone give a brief outline? Has the wing come off under load and caused him to go off track?

Autosport seem to suggest they wont be back out today.

Looking forward to the Sky coverage tonight so I can finally hear the cars.

Holy... Its like they forgot to design the wing on the nose and last minute thought; 'Let's just stick it on'.

Wish i never asked now :0. Dare i ask, Williams Pics?
