F1 Testing 2014: Week 1 Jerez

Yes it's wishful thinking ! But I honestly can't think of anyone else who this new CEO could be apart from Ross Brawn. I'm getting giddy writing about it!

Seriously though who else is there out there? Everyone by now is firmly implanted in their respective teams apart from Ross. Surely the lure of that CEO job where he will answer only to Ron (if that's the case) would be too much for Ross to resist?

Maybe it's a new role created for Whitmarsh? Bouiller does the day to day running with Whitmarsh still involved, but in a hands-off role.

Vettel's on his way home after his turbo caught fire. He only managed 11 laps over the two day (eight today plus three yesterday).

The Renault-engined cars all appear to be struggling but I'm sure they'll get everything sorted in time for Melbourne.

Either that or they're sandbagging already! :p

E: Early Twitter report said it was the turbo, now looks like it's an issue with the energy store. Maybe RBR's KERS issues have continued into the new ERS…

Yup the Renault powered cars have had very little running so far.

Mercedes engines have had very little trouble from what I've seen, Ferrari have had the odd scare but seem ok.

Edit: As I say that the red flag comes out and the FI car is lifted away smoking a little. :p

Engine Lap count currently:
Mercedes 123
Ferrari 56
Renault 13

Wonder if newey has packed things to tight again? is anyone else waiting for the normal Renault "we need to fix the engine" time again.

With the animosity RD has for Whitmarsh I cant see that happening, RD has been trying to force him out for years from reports in the last few weeks

Liking testing so far, Red Bull battling with Caterham, Merc/Mclaren fighting at the front, Ferrari going slow to draw as little attention to the butt ugly car as possible.... awesome.

It's early, but it's still not great running by Renault, thing is I always feel like, slow steady, fast unreliable. you always get that feeling that tech pushing the bleeding edge can be faster, and that if Renault/teams sort out the problems it could be faster than a reliable engine people aren't having much trouble with because the engine played it somewhat safe. Will be interesting to see how that plays out, if Renault have problems throughout the first test it will obviously set the teams back badly.

80+ laps for Rosberg and all in the 1.27s looking good so far for Merc.
From autosport
"And he finally pits. Rosberg's lap tally currently stands at 84, just nine short of the total of all the cars on day one."
