Fallout: New Vegas

I don't imagine it works like that, they're coders, you read the libs and put them to work - besides which they've had two years to become acquainted with it, I'm sure it'll be fine :p

I can't wait for this - I'm umming and arring about upgrading my GTX260 to a GTX460 for it, but worried it may be a colossal waste of cash.

They've had 2 years practice but most of that i imagine has been working on NV. Its not really the same as Bethesda who have a lot more experience with it from released games too.

The important thing is that they seem to have implemented a lot of the best ideas from the modding community. After watching a few videos, I think this has the potential to be better than FO3.

I've not really seen much of that, didn't someone say they'd added Weapon Mod Kits in? They were a great addition to FO3 but they didn't include custom weapons so if its done by default its more likely custom weapons will include them. Though it was sweet to pick up Ol' Painless to find it had a Scope and Silencer on it... made it 10x more awesome.

This feels like it's going to be a Mass Effect to Mass Effect 2. I felt Mass Effect was very boring and was expecting the same of Mass Effect 2 which turned out to be amazing and got completed in 3 sittings. Fallout 3 to Fallout: New Vegas might be the same. :p

I hope not. The Fallout franchise needs to move in the opposite tradition imo. I enjoyed ME2 but it was a shooter primarily. ME1 was closer to being a proper RPG. If you found it boring, perhaps RPGs aren't for you?

Way to take offense. I meant in the way I found how mass effect played out and it's story didn't appeal to me but I loved what they did to mass effect 2 and how it hooked me instantly from the start. I am just saying that I didn't enjoy Fallout( loved fallout 1+2) but I am looking forward to New Vegas. As for rpgs? Currently on a playthough of temple of elemental evil so no need for that kind of comment.

the new Bethesda direction of fallout was dire compared to the old ones.

^^Must be disappointing as I know you like the earlier games. I haven't played them and so had nothing to compare it with, I liked FO3 quite a lot.

over 10 years on and i still play he old ones :(

The old ones had much better writing and so many more options.

But... but... your actions can't have consequences! The ESRB might get ****y if you do that! Its just not fair that i could kill someone in a seemingly random act of violence only to find out 4 hours later that i can no longer complete 'insert quest here' because i had no warning!

I blame the ever dodgy 'good/evil' sliding system...
"So you nuked Megaton? Well i'll overlook this utterly heinous act of terrorism conducted purely for money because you happen to have donated water to a hobo a quite often."

It was disappointing how little your actions mattered. I don't really recall if anyone but your dad ever mentioned you nuking Megaton. Either you did it in complete secrecy and would therefore gain no 'evil' points because nobody knew or everyone would know and at least have a reaction based on it.

I meant no offense and took none myself. I apologise if it came across that way. However, from what you had posted, my comment seemed appropriate.

Hmm no idea where to order Fallout: New Vegas + Collectors Edition Strategy Guide, purple store saying release date on 22nd, amazon saying delivery on the 26th and some other saying delivery on the 19th. Not sure if the purple store could get the game+guide to me on time and if the others are true amazon at elast seems to be truthfull. :(

Might get the game guide when it is reduced in price. By that time, I will have completed everything I could find, so it should be useful (it certainly was in FO3).

Think il with amazon then, go for a first playthough with no help then a 2nd to find all the goodies and by that time it should have arrived.

Really anoyed i missed the Fallout 3 guide, and this one is ment to be even better and the collectors ed guide has a poster map which the collectors ed game dosnt, which is odd tbh. Prefer a good poster to some trinkets (poker chips, playing cards, no bobble head :()

who buys strat guides with the game :/

Always wondered what's the deal with those guides, might sound like an obvious thing to say but without knowing I still can't help but be curious. Secret areas, extra art work, that sort of thing? :)
