Fallout: New Vegas

For anyone planning on playing it again, cant reccomend an explosives build enough. Started with dynamite from the powder gangers and the odd grenade, as soon as you get the modified belt fed grenade launcher it becomes hilarious (especialy when you realise that you can continue to shoot during a slow motion death.....slow motion........BOOOMMMMM.......slow motion arm spinning off.

The funnest fight is in the energy weapons shop as there are loads of them and they try to follow you through a narrow door. got some screenshots of about 7 arms and a leg all flying in various directions (not attached to people).

Haha, I had a build like this on my 360. But will be SO much better on PC! Will definitely try this out again.

I am trying out mele atm(combat knife is pretty cool), but it is very hard. I am also using a lot of dynamite as you end up picking up loads from the Powder Gangers(I have around 80 atm). And the grenade hotkey is very useful so I can just throw one whenever I want.

If anything I think you get too much dynamite early on in the game really.

I am trying to be a bit sneaky in this playthrough. The modified stealthoy is coming in very handy. I still haven't done much yet though, just sorted out Primm.

Can anyone recommend a strategy for doing the DLCs?

I mean at what level should they be tackled(over 200 hours combined and not done any of them!). If you could factor in that I have Project Nevada installed, so the game is harder, that would be great

Cheers.

At least 20. Lonesome Road and Dead Money are the hardest. Old World Blues has it's share of bullet sponges (as much as I praise Obsidian, they didn't handle the encounter design very well in OWB).

Well I tried, but it is just too much hassle to help Benny escape! ....I ended up shooting him in the back of the head, about 5 times.

Eh, without the platinum chip he's just a bit player with little or no influence outside the Tops casino. That's if the Legion or House don't decide to kill him later anyway.

One of the uncut mods adds another encounter with him if you can free him that was cut from the game. I just wanted to see that really.

Fair enough. I've only got a level 10 courier with scrappy equipment so I'm not venturing near the Legion camps or the main storyline just yet :p

I am level 25 atm, wandering just returned from the fort and cleared out Camp Searchlight, and I currently have Boone, Cass, veronica and EDI following me:cool: ...they have however all run our of ammo so are using mele weapons.

I disabled Project reality as it was causing a bit of choppiness, but had to put it back on as it is just not the same without it. I tried Nevada skies, but it looks terrible in comparison.

I will do my first piece of dlc soon I think. I might go for OWB first, as I have the delayer on and that is the only signal I have picked up so far.

EDIT- meant level 15

Anyone have a recommended list of mods? I've completed it vanilla as I didnt even know it was moddable, since then though I've bought the DLC (ages ago, probably last summer sale) just never played it since and kept meaning to with mods.

Sig for specs, I think any mods will be fine for my rig :)

You'll have to be more specific. There are lots of mods mentioned in this thread, and hundreds more on the NV Nexus alone.

If you've got all of the DLC and want to adjust the game balance, I would suggest JE Sawyer's re-balancing\tweak mod (he was the project director on the game and is a senior employee at Obsidian). There is a changelist here: http://twofoldsilence.diogenes-lamp.info/2012/05/jsawyeresp-v4.html

Direct link from his site: http://diogenes-lamp.info/jsawyer_fnv_mod.zip (be sure you have the Ultimate Edition or at least all of the DLC inc the weapon packs as the mod tweaks those files)

not played this yet what mods that to get that improve but not change to much from core design.

Gameplay, visual or other? The core design in pretty much all aspects had to make compromises (for console limitations, because of the tight schedule and the Fallout 3 fanbase that would be annoyed by tougher mechanics). The mod I mention above probably isn't a good starting point for new players, so please be more specific.

On a related note, Sawyer's formspring is great :)

Q: How much leeway does a developer like Obsidian get as far as release dates? Does a publisher just dictate the date at the start of a project, or do developers have some say in determining the length of the development cycle?

A: It varies from project to project. Developers do have a say in the cycle, but it comes down to what's in the contract. In one case we learned the release date of a project by seeing it when a public trailer came out five months prior to the date listed in the trailer. That was nice.

I just started Old World Blues. I haven't done any of the quests yet, I will tomorrow as I am a bit tired but I like the look of it, some much needed humour. A message popped up saying it is recommended for characters over level 15, and I am level 15. I will probably get mugged!

The development team said that because players entered the DLCs at such varying levels, they decided to scale the enemies. Unfortunately a high-level Courier can generate enemies with HP bloat as a result.

As for humour, Veronica, Rose/Cass and Arcade bring some, for starters :p
