Fallout: New Vegas

do not use F.O.O.K, so I am not that sure about compatibility tbh. I much prefer Project Nevada, as it is more stable in my experience and I prefer the changes it makes. I think Project Nevada + NVEC makes for a great mini-overhaul of the game.

As for graphics, this is what I am using.

Project Reality- Best lighting and weather mod by an absolute mile
NMC's texture pack
Poco Bueno texture pack
MG's neat clutter
EVE
Electro City(with Imaginator, which is important)
and finally FXAA injector, which is excellent. I turn off AA in options and use this, and it looks great, and much improves performance for me.
Then optimizer textures to improve performance

Nice, thanks!

Which size pack are you using for NMC's textures?

Medium. I could probably handle more, but I didn't want to tempt it. Project reality can seriously hamper FPS as it is(if you find this, I recommend swapping it for Fellout, or Nevada Skies, I prefer Fellout). You should be fine though, as you have a much better processor than me(same gpu though).

If you do change to Project Nevada, make sure you have compatibility patched that it needs.

There is also an Enhanced Shaders mod which a lot of people like, but I didn't get on with it tbh. You might like it though, just generally I seem to not get on with ENBs.

Sorry to be asking yet another question (rather new to all this :() but I now have the script extender and the 4GB FNV launchers in the folder, and I was wondering which one I should use to launch the game? (Using FOMM too but I can only run the game or script extender through that)

Ah of course, should have remembered I downloaded the nvse version, sorry!

I think I will pick up the config menu too, thanks :)

I don't know if we are at crossed wires, or I am just being dim, but the one at the bottom of that page is the one you want:) ...I thought you meant that you had downloaded nvse and 4gb loader seperately?

Oh no sorry it's me being an idiot... :p Got the right files now!

I've installed all my mods and run the game using the 4gb file, however it just comes up with a black screen and stops responding

Does it load the menu? If not it is almost certainly a compatibility patch problem. Post your load order, and we will have a look.

Oh and BOSS is great for automatically sorting load order.

If it crashes before the game loads, Download Boos and run it first. - http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/35999

Didn't load the menu, downloaded BOSS and ran it... Tried again and it loaded the opening screen for a split second before going back to black/not responding...

My fault- the problem is NVEC. I forgot to say that it requires all of the dlc. Sorry. Untick it and it should work.

It is a fantastic collection of mods and bugfixes, but it even requires Gun Runners Arsenal, so many can't use it:(

Tip- If you highlight an esp in FOMM, it will tell you which other esm and esp files are needed. If you click on NVEC for example, it will list all the dlcs under 'masters'

Aw damn it looked pretty neat :p

Is there a mod similar to it I could use? Also just so im not asking so many questions, how do you tell which mods are compatible with others, or is it just down to experimentation?

Don't forget to use configure the settings for PN, Project Reality etc in the Mod config menu;). There are a few options in Project reality which aren't for everyone which you can change. Also, Imaginator has an item in apparel I believe which tweaks a whole load of settings which will help you get the game looking just as you want it. Plus the FXAA injector can also be configured through an application in your NV folder.

Ha, I just realised in my first reply to you I wrote"do not use F.O.O.k", when all I meant to say was "I do not use F.O.O.K":p

I might do Dead Money tonight.

Ha!
The Enclave, Brotherhood and an army of Securitrons at the battle for Hoover Dam is pretty epic!

I think you mean
the real Enclave remnants from Navarro and the oil rig, and the old-school BOS, not the Fallout 3 versions
;)

The game engine doesn't really support huge battles though, there should be really a few hundred troops on each side to be lore-accurate.

All I know is that I am ready for battle;)

It really is a shame that there is no post-battle content. I am using the mod which continues the game after, but it would be nice if there were some consequences shown, and even some dialogue with some important NPCs.

The mod is planning to introduce some content along those lines, but it seems a bit ambitious.- http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/42428. It will be pretty epic if he pulls it off though. I do still have quite a few quests left, and 3 DLCs to go
