Fallout: New Vegas

I have recently finished all the DLC's for New Vegas, i rate them in this order Dead Money > Old World Blues > Lonesome Road > Honest Hearts.

Dead Money was the only one that stood out for me, with the unique game-play and interesting characters in the story.

I am going to play FO3 DLC at some point down the line, iv only finished the main game for it. Is the DLC better than New Vegas? The Alien ship one looks interesting. :)

The alien ship one is fun :)

Sweet armor combo. :p

This game tbh... best Bethesda title to date for performance, so props to Obsidian for that. Oblivion's pretty flawless but still has its stuttering issues and crash to desktop moments (mods though), Skyrim is the same, pretty flawless but has issues (very bad mod+videoRAM issues, but its early days).

Fallout 3, though, is a clunky, stuttering mess.

If Fallout 3 is on the same engine as this and Oblivion, yet Oblivion came out before it and works much better on Windows 7 than 3, why doesn't Bethesda crack down and get on with a brand new patch with some general memory/coding and Win7 optimizations?

More people play Fallout 3 then they do NV or Oblivion, so it just seems dumb.

:p

I am a few hours in to Honest Hearts now. It is...ok I guess. Seems like there are quite a few places to explore, and a return of the Yao Guai is nice. I ditched the two moron followers pretty quickly though;). I have just done the first batch of mission(fetch quests really) and I am on to the second lot now. I hope the story picks up.

I think I spoiled it by doing OWB first. The other two I have played haven't compared tbh.

No it's simple... Fallout 3 is just a better game! :D

What? Did you read me post there Jimmy? :p

I know it is, I was just saying it's stupid they haven't sorted it out with the Windows 7 issues considering its the most popular. Especially as more people are realizing XP is a wooden horse now and 7 is the top dog.

True, but I have yet to play it on PC... Well I started it once and it crashed :p

But that may have been because of the massive amount of mods I attempted to use :D

Skyrim is really the only game that requires a massive amount of mods to be great at the minute, mainly because like I said before; its young. The beauty of Oblivion, Fallout 3 & NV is their age, there are tons of 'overhauls', 'mod projects' and tons of compatibility patches, which means you really don't need to use a whole load of .esp's, which is what causes most crashes. I'd of thought they'd of stopped allocating each .esp a fixed amount of RAM after the issues the others had. If you literally have a 4kb mod with an .esp, it'll take the same resources as a 500mb mod's .esp. Its retarded because once you start going over 4GB RAM usage, you get instant crashes.

Anyway, New Vegas is a piece of brilliance tbh, it even supports CPU threading and takes full advantage of quad core...

Lol @ Bethesda & Skyrizzle. :p

Tbh I played fallout 3 as soon as it was out, so the age isn't a particular point for me... I just found Skyrim very boring and 'samey' after about 30 hours :/

By age I meant mods available, you can have an extremely heavily modded Oblivion, Fallout 3 or NV without having any more than 20 .esp's, which is almost guaranteed to have no more crashes than vanilla.

Skyrim though, I have 90 active .esp files and it still feels vanilla. 90 .esp = CTD every 30 minutes. :p

For Fallout 3 just use F.O.O.K.v2, Fellout (built into F.O.O.K.v2) & Enhanced Weather and its a totally different game, that's no more than 12 .esp files.

New Vegas, use Fellout, Project Nevada, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Weapon Pack, & Mo Monster Mod.

F.O.O.K. really is the best overhaul kit I've used for any game, add's about 200+ real-life weapons, hundreds of new enemies, many ripped from other games, tons of new features (sprint, throwing grenades without equipping them etc.). You can get it for NV too.

I have finally had a 3 hour gaming session with NV which hasn't happened in years! really enjoying the restart (hardcore mode and going to play as goodie as possible)

I have turned my other screen off and tv off which i normally have on when I game and I have finally found myself sucked into a game, I guess when I try and multi task i just ruin the immersion?

Anyone know how big the download for the game +dlc is (Steam)

When i click install it says 5GB. However my friend says that soon turns to 10GB+ with all dlc included.
