Fallout: New Vegas

A bashed patch and merged patch are pretty similar tbh, though a bashed patch is better imo. Wrye bash also works well with BOSS, and is just handy to use. You will have to install all the wrye Python stuff as well if you do use it. I would definitely use one or the other though.

I would download Wrye Bash, run BOSS through that, then organize the rest by hand and create a bashed patch.

Thanks, I'll look into it

As for ENB, try downloading Enhanced ENB shaders, and in the download folders there is an alternate 4gb launcher, which I don't seem to be able to find anywhere else for some reason.

I did download this very mod (I went with the Nevada Skies edition) and I don't think I could get it to work, I believe I tried the usual 4gb launcher and the one from the ENB and both resulted in the same thing - instacrash... I don't suppose you could explain how you have it setup?

You know that ENB sometimes doesn't work with programs that have overlays such as Afterburner/Fraps. IF you have any of those running, try without them.

Ooo okay I didn't think of that but now that you mention it I do have Afterburner so I'll try again and switch that off... What about the Steam Overlay? Also I notice running the game with the 4Gb launcher means Steam doesn't seem to recognise that it's FO:NV (at least all the community + achievement stuff is missing, and if I take screenshots through steam it doesn't register them as FO:NV) - Anything I can do about that?

The game only really needs 2-3 mods to improve it incredibly anyway tbh. Just NVEC, Project Reality and Project Nevada, and it is like a new game, and much, much better!

I need some help for Lonesome Road. Well... not help exactly. Maybe just a second opinion.

I managed to talk Ulysses down without needing to kill him. But now I need to decide what to do with the nukes. I want to disarm them, but I also dont want to sacrafice ED-E. If I have to nuke anyone, it would definetely be the Legion. But surely thats the wrong thing to do, just to save the life of a single eyebot?

Oooh... its only a bloody video game and I am so morally conflicted! SOMEBODY HELP ME!!! D:

Thanks. Finally installed New Vegas this morning - played for about 2 hours, but spent the rest of the day browsing the t'internet for various mods.

I know everyone has their own idea of what good mods should be used, but its good to have a basis to start from.

I agree that you don't need too much, I wanted mainly to fix bugs and enhance the experience slightly, so I ended up going with:

For the HUD: DarnUI + OneHud

General: Project Nevada and Mission Mojave (I guess this is my equivalent to NVEC - bugfixes etc). The 3 Vegas "Open" mods to make the central areas of NV more like the developer intended and restore a bit of cut content. CASM Save manager to avoid corrupt save problems

Appearance: Nevada Skies, NMC's textures + Poco Bueno textures, plus the Directors Chair combo (Dynavision, Cinematech + Imaginator) and Electric City, NV Redesigned 2 to fix the godawful character faces you find in the game

And that's about it, I put a few others on for fun like the Lucky 38 suite reloaded but not much more... "A World of Pain" sounded fun but I figured adding so many extra dungeons was wasted on me (who struggled to complete the main game on it's own before)

Bumped! :(

Spoiler Alert

do what you want.
- if you want NCR reputation, blow up Legion and you get access to Dry Wells area
- if you want legion reputation. blow up NCR and get access to Long 15 area
- if you want Followers and BoS rep, stop the launch
- not sure what happens if you blow both NCR and Legion except infamy with both factions, fame with Boomers and Powder Gangers and probably access to both new areas??

think the choice depends on your character's standing with the factions.

I had good rep with NCR so nuked the Legion, but I wanted to stop the launch unfortunately I wasn't given the option since I left the eyebot in its cell since I wanted the Lonesome perk.

I wouldn't worry about the eyebot since once you're done with DLC you will never see it again, yet the upgrades you got will transfer to Mojave E-DE

if you want to know more check out the FONV wiki, it details all

hope that helps and enjoy

PS I just finished the DLC last weekend. thought it was OK, Zion being my favourite area. LR was OK but a bit of a long corridor. OWB was average. I have to say I hated Sierra Madre DLC, only reason I finished that garbage of a maze and tedious crafting, was I forgot to save before entering. what a noob for relying on autosave :( (my last real save was way too far back for me to even consider), I couldn't leave until I finished it - and it was a chore.

Thanks I guess :p

I ended up nuking the legion. I felt slightly guilty about it, but they DO enslave and crucify people, so IMO they kinda had it coming to them. I've started the Honest Hearts DLC, which will probably be the last thing I do before heading to the final battle. I thought OWB was pretty good and I agree that Dead Money was kinda a pain, though stealing all 37 gold bars from the casino vault was kinda awesome. Not that I need money. I have just over 100,000 caps now, without selling a single gold bar...

I got the Explorer perk as my last perk at lvl 50. I had no idea how many locations I had not been to yet. I thought I had been to nearly everything, but there were loads more!

I tried getting the ENB thingy working with this but gave up in frustration as the game kept crashing.

Is there an idiot proof guide anywhere to sort this out? I just wanted a little more saturation and some more realistic lighting.

Personally I wouldn't bother with ENB, I got it working but you have to put up with your hands and weapons being semi-transparent when looking down iron-sights which was really annoying for me.

Attempt version 3 lol

Well I recently got the Ultimate Edition from the last summer sale and I'd thought I'd fresh install everything and install NVEC on that list.

I did it successful but am now suffering from tremendous lag. I get about 35-38fps currently.

Here are the things I have tried:

fresh install of nv + mods
stutter remover
nvidia inspector profile
4GB patch
fps max = 60 in enbseries.ini
enable/disable subtle depth of field

These are the mods I use
NMC Large
MG Clutter
Poco Bueno
Project Reality
Lone Wanderer FNV ENB
DarnUI
Vurt's Flora Overhaul
NVEC
F.O.O.K

Has anyone got any other suggestions to help me play lag-free?
