Fallout: New Vegas

This works for me. OCed q6600 and 5870 seems to chug down to 40ish fps with a few NPCs on screen. Stays at 60 with the dll.

Can you tell us how you got it to work I've just got over to the red side and when I did fallout at max settings dropped to 30 fps like it was limited or something where I got 60ish with my old 260gtx

why does this run poorly as it is practically the same game as FO3 isn't it? How much have they changed as from the videos and screenshots it appears very little so what has gone wrong?

runs great for me with the 7900GS dx9.dll ..

games obviously poorly ported though hopefully we get a fair few patchs...

the game is fun so far for me though

Perception and Charisma in Fallout 3 were not that important, I hear now that Perception has an additional affect on 'overall' accuracy? Does this seem to be the case?

Just curious as it will affect my starting stat allocation. Perception was pretty good in Fallout 1 and 2...

Thanks.

I wouldnt count on it.

Unfortunately the engine used is developed by a third party, so most bugs stemming from this are very unlikely to ever get fixed. Look at Fallout 3 and Oblivion. They both still have so many problems resulting in people having to run round in circles trying to fix it for themselves.

Some people have luck, some dont.

I personally find it a disgrace that these games get released at all.

That and the further insult of people that say, "stop moaning all games have bugs, noob noob noob" ad infinitum, is enough for me to unfortunately avoid this game.

(I have Fallout 3 and Oblivion; great games, abysmal engines)

One thing I'd be willing to put good money on though, is that any future Fallout games (which Im certain there will be) that get released will be on an engine that works.

An engine written by John Carmack.

really? bethesda have been using this engine for a long time.

last engine he worked on was the doom 3 /id 4 one and that wasn't great

Yes, really. What other reason do you think Zenimax Media purchased id Studios, a studio that hasnt had a major release in nearly 7 years? They would be idiots not to exploit the greatest resource they have; one of the most prolific and talented coders of our time.

Arguable opinion.

Imo Carmack produces some of the best engines out there, but yes, Rage has been a hell of a long time coming. Still, now we know for certain it will be with us during September 2011.

Well im getting this but its not via steam will be normal copy bought from a purple store its been despatched (yesterday to be precise) Will it go via steam then anyway??
I was wondering this too. Can anyone confirm?
Yes put the serial into steam-
If you don't know how-
1. Open the Steam Client
2. Select “Games” from the menu bar, and choose “Activate a Product on Steam”
3. When prompted, enter in the product code.

Really hoping that things pick up, if it wasn't for the fact that this is a Fallout game I would have given up already. I have just finished Borderlands so I knew it was going to be a change of pace but this just feels like a community mod with far too many rough edges for a full release.
